Job Description
Position Purpose summary
The Intergenerational Program Coordinator will lead the development, facilitation, and planning for the sustainability of an intergenerational program encompassing all Village programs. This initiative aims to bridge gaps between generations by fostering meaningful relationships among seniors, adults, and children through structured social and recreational activities.
Accountabilities
- Develop and implement a structured, goal-oriented intergenerational program that includes physical activities, games, crafts, special events and other recreational opportunities.
- Facilitate interaction between participants of different generations to encourage mutual respect, learning and friendship.
- Collaborate with existing program staff across departments to integrate intergenerational activities into current programming.
- Utilize spaces and resources (e.g., gym, games room, pavilion, outdoor areas) for program delivery.
- Research and stay updated on best practices for intergenerational programming.
- Create a resource binder and implementation plan for sustainable program delivery.
- Regularly evaluate program outcomes and adjust for ongoing success and relevance.
- Participate as an active member of the steering committee for this project.
- Build relationships with community partners and social service agencies to expand the program’s reach.
- Prepare reports and presentations for leadership and funders to demonstrate impact and innovation.
- Maintain statistical information on participation as assigned.
- Uphold all Salvation Army policies, directives, and operating guidelines as contained in the Policy Manual of The Salvation Army London Village.
Working Conditions
- This is a temporary full-time position based on 40 hours per week.
- Mainly based at London Village, using on-site indoor and outdoor facilities.
- Flexibility in scheduling to meet program requirements, including occasional evenings or weekends.
- The Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule.
- Interaction with diverse groups including seniors, children, adults, those with developmental disabilities and other staff.
- Some physical activity involved in facilitating recreation-based programming.
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent lifting, twisting, bending, crouching, reaching, pushing and pulling.
- Walking and standing for long periods.
- Some kneeling or running may be required.
- Some travel may be involved.
Normal Hours of Work
Monday to Friday, day shifts from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including a 30-minute paid meal break.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Therapeutic Recreation, Psychology, or related field; or equivalent education/experience.
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening including a broad record check satisfactory to The Salvation Army.
Experience and Skills
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in program development, ideally in an intergenerational or multi-generational context.
- Experience working with seniors, children, and adults in social service or community settings.
- Knowledge of aging challenges, youth development, and fostering cross-generational relationships.
- Experience coordinating activities and events for diverse groups.
- Ability to communicate in other languages is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to work with iPads/tablets and Smart Boards.

- Develop understanding and support for The Salvation Army’s mission in Canada and its relation to position responsibilities.

Compensation
The target hiring range for this position is $45,416.03 to $56,770.04, with a maximum of $68,124.04. Placement within the range will be based on market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications.
