Job summary

A community service organization in Sault Ste. Marie is seeking a dedicated individual for a 3-month fixed term role. The successful candidate will support clients in a 24/7 women’s residential setting and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team. Applicants must have a background in social sciences, one year of experience in the social services field, and demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This role requires flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one-year experience in the social services field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs of disadvantaged youth and adults.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR, Naloxone Administration certification.

Responsibilities

  • Offer support to clients in a 24/7 women’s residential setting.
  • Conduct intake, case management, and referrals.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to evaluate client care.

Job description

3-month fixed term contract position, renewal pending funding
35 hours per week at $24.20-$26.51/hr.
Must be willing to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and overnights.

JHS has been providing services in the community for 57 years. We are a multi-service agency that partners with other agencies to improve our community members’ quality of life. The successful candidate will offer support to clients within a 24/7 women’s residential setting, including intake, case management, and referrals. This position will collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate client care. This role will also respect and protect the rights of clients.

Qualified applicants must have graduated from an accredited college/university in social sciences with a minimum of one-year experience in the social services field; plus have:

  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs of disadvantaged youth and adults
  • Demonstrated excellent communication/interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with the use of computer software
  • Valid First Aid/CPR, Naloxone Administration
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Bilingualism would be an asset
