Placements24 seeks an Intellectual Property Lawyer to join a forward-thinking legal team, advising on protection, exploitation, and enforcement of IP rights, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.

You will work remotely across South Africa, collaborating with innovators, businesses, and creatives to safeguard valuable IP assets and resolve IP-related matters in a dynamic tech landscape.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney with 5+ years of specialized IP law experience.
• Strong understanding of patent, trademark, copyright, and design law in SA.
• Experience drafting and negotiating IP licensing and technology transfer agreements.
• Excellent analytical, research, and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on IP strategy, including registration and enforcement of patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
• Draft and negotiate IP-related agreements, such as licensing, assignment, and R&D agreements.
• Conduct IP due diligence for corporate transactions and partnerships.
• Manage and resolve IP disputes, including infringement and opposition proceedings.
• Provide counsel on data privacy and cybersecurity matters related to IP.
