THE OPPORTUNITY

The Integrated Youth Services Support Worker provides support to young people ages 11–25 and their families in accessing a range of community, mental health, and wellness services. Reporting to the Supervisor of Integrated Youth Services, this position is responsible for the initial intake and access of site for youth and is primarily the forward-facing staff to welcome youth to the site. This position empowers young people to articulate their needs, understand available resources, and participate in shared decision‑making that builds confidence, resilience, independence and wellbeing.

This is a full‑time, temporary position till March 2029.

Salary: $63,081.20 - $74,984.00 annually.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Support at Point of Access:

  • Provide registration and check‑in supports for youth accessing the site.
  • Provide direct support for youth ages 11–25 and their families in accessing services at the site.
  • Assist youth in accessing services by directing them to appropriate resources offered by Kickstand (IYS) or other related programs., and service providers with navigation of referrals and available supports.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with youth.
  • Promote positive mental health language to decrease stigma in the community and at the site.

Program Support:

  • Support development and delivery of direct programming as required and as part of the service delivery team.
  • Support awareness of the Integrated Youth Services Model and site as required and that may include youth engagement off site (schools, community).
  • Direct support of KYAC (Kickstand Youth Action Council).
  • Provide warm hand‑offs and follow‑up to ensure smooth connections between youth, families, and appropriate service providers.
  • Educate and assist youth, families, and service providers in understanding and navigating diverse programs, services, and referral processes.
  • Promote mental wellness and positive health outcomes through community engagement and outreach as directed.

Data, Reporting, and Administration:

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions, care goals, and referrals within approved databases.
  • Collect and report data to support evaluation of client outcomes and service effectiveness.
  • Provide back up support for Medical Office Assistant function as required or directed.

Safety, Ethics, and Professional Development:

  • Maintain knowledge of and compliance with legislation such as Access to Information Act, Protection of Privacy Act, and the Child, Youth, and Family Enhancement Act.
  • Participate in relevant training, including Indigenous cultural safety and trauma‑informed care.
  • Report safety concerns or incidents in alignment with policy and promote a culture of safety in the workplace.

Other Duties:

  • Understand and adhere to City policies, procedures and standards, whether written or implied, as amended from time to time.
  • Contribute to a positive safety culture by always acting in a safe manner and complying with City safety policies and procedures for staff and contractors.
  • Act as a steward of the City’s Corporate Culture by following the “Values, We Live By”.
  • All employees shall act in a safe manner at all times and will report any unsafe conditions, procedures or acts for the benefit of the City. Continual adherence to the City Safety Policy is mandatory.
  • Employees are expected to stay current on WHIMIS and other safety‑related procedures.
  • Perform other job‑related duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Human Services field.
  • Candidates who have completed education in a discipline governed by Alberta’s Health Professions Act must be registered and in good standing with the relevant regulatory college prior to commencing employment. Proof of active registration will be required.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in youth‑focused program delivery.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, social service frameworks, and municipal policies.
  • Training in trauma‑informed care, youth engagement, and culturally safe practices.
  • Knowledge of person‑centered care and principles of health equity.
  • Strong customer service orientation, communication skills and the ability to build positive, supportive relationships.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Medical Office Assistant training (willingness to acquire in lieu of).
  • Mental Health First Aid Certification.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR.
  • ASIST Certification.
  • Experience working in multi‑agency, integrated service models.
  • Training in De‑escalating Potentially Violent Situations.
  • Experience working in multicultural, or Indigenous contexts.
  • Experience working for a municipality and understanding of municipal policies.
  • Knowledge of community resources, systems navigation, and social determinants of health.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in complex community settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify needs, develop responsive programming, and advocate effectively.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • Must obtain a satisfactory review of a three‑year Driver’s Abstract, with a maximum of six demerits.
  • Criminal Record Check Clearance.
  • Vulnerable Sector/Child Intervention Check.
  • Must maintain active licensing with the Alberta College of Social Workers (if applicable), including the requirement for ongoing professional development.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Typical work schedule is Monday to Friday in accordance with Kickstand Spruce Grove operating hours.
  • Ability to work evenings and occasional weekend work.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Working in an office environment, including direct interaction with youth and the public.
