Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board (DSB) is looking for a self-motivated & energetic individual to join our industry-leading organization which works towards the delivery of high-quality services and programs to the residents of Manitoulin-Sudbury districts. Created by the provincial government, the DSB is responsible for overseeing and managing a range of services divested to the municipal order of government, including Ontario Works, Community Housing, Paramedic Services (Land Ambulance), and Early Learning and Child Care Services.

The Opportunity

We are currently looking for a driven individual to join our team as an Integrated Program Assistant. The position will be in Espanola within our Integrated Human Services Department.

In this position, you will be responsible for collecting and analyzing information from clients in order to make recommendations for applicants to receive community housing, child care, and social assistance. The Integrated Program Assistant will provide support to tenants in the receiving and managing of work orders and provide referrals to clients regarding employment and education by providing administrative support.

Qualifications and Specific Skills

Education

  • Successful completion of secondary school (Grade 12) education. Successful completion of a diploma in the Social Sciences field from a recognized college with Canadian accreditation is considered an asset.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience of related experience preferably in the municipal social services or employment services field.

Skills

  • Effective oral and written communication, organization, and problem-solving skills and ability to do so with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to understand and interpret provincial statutes, regulations, and policies pertaining to program delivery services.
  • Ability to work with computer programs relevant to client files, third-party inquiries, and data collection.
  • Knowledge of local programs that will be of assistance to clients.
  • Bilingualism will be considered an asset.

Ability to travel as required. Valid Ontario class “G” driver’s license with access to an appropriately insured vehicle as required for employment-related use.

Salary: $26.19/hour (35 hours per week)
