JOB PURPOSE

The Intake Counsellor will work five days per week (Monday to Friday), providing comprehensive clinical intake services and system navigation support to FSR, FSEAP, and Help Line clients. Responsibilities include brief therapy interventions, in-the-moment support for callers transferred to the Help Line, building rapport, providing telephone counselling, stabilizing crisis situations, and conducting intake assessments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
  • Handle client requests for services.
  • Conduct telephonic clinical intake assessments, including risk evaluations, to refer clients appropriately.
  • Provide crisis stabilization and immediate telephone counselling.
  • Deliver single-session, brief therapy services to help line callers.
  • Schedule face-to-face appointments or refer clients to community resources and clinical affiliates.
  • Educate clients about services, eligibility, and referral processes.
  • Manage enrollment and intake documentation within databases.
  • Assist in developing and implementing quality assurance initiatives.
  • Manage data entry and documentation, with proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Participate in collaborative service planning.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Significant understanding of mental health and substance abuse issues.
  • Ability to assess high-risk situations, conduct risk assessments, safety planning, and make referrals.
  • Strong knowledge of community resources.
  • Experience in creating and managing clinical records.
  • Excellent communication and team-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Maintain community relationships.

Must have BSW and SASW Registration.
