Job summary

The Mirillion Group is assisting a major Canadian insurer in finding a Senior Director, Financial Reporting to lead external and regulatory reporting, including IFRS 17 and IFRS 9. You will partner with FP&A, actuarial, tax, and audit to ensure accurate financial statements and compliant disclosures.

This highly technical role requires deep experience in life insurance or group benefits, strong IFRS knowledge, and a track record of delivering robust reporting processes in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in financial/accounting reporting with life insurance exposure.
• Hands-on IFRS 17 experience, including implementation involvement.
• Strong IFRS 9 knowledge and its interaction with insurance reporting.
• Ability to translate complex accounting into practical reporting processes.
• Experience partnering with actuarial and audit stakeholders in regulated environments.
• Big 4 public accounting background.

Responsibilities

• Lead statutory, regulatory (OSFI), and external financial reporting.
• Serve as senior technical resource on IFRS 17 and IFRS 9.
• Collaborate with actuarial, tax, and audit teams to ensure accurate outputs.
• Oversee preparation and review of financial statements and disclosures.
• Identify process improvements as standards evolve.
• Present findings and risks to senior finance leadership and audit committees.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the financial reporting team.
