Qualifications

• RIBO licence is required.
• Post secondary education or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 3 years of insurance experience with strong claims knowledge.
• Knowledge across Personal Insurance; Commercial lines is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, listening, empathy and diplomacy.
• Positive, customer-first attitude and detail-oriented.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Guide clients through claims counselling conversations.
• Ensure clear communication of expectations and next steps.
• Gather required information to issue a New Loss Notice.
• Promptly report and process new claims to insurers.
• Maintain client contact within 24 hours and throughout.
• Communicate effectively with Adjusters and managers.
• Escalate issues to adjusters or claims managers as needed.
• Document conversations in EPIC & Blue Butler systems.
• Input claims data into broker management system.
• Administer Proof of Loss and claim cheque requirements.
• Connect clients with their Client Account Manager after settlement.
• Assist with other broker-related duties, including claims inbox.
• Support ongoing professional development and team collaboration.

About This Role

As an Insurance Claims Specialist, you'll support our Personal Lines and Commercial Lines Client Account Managers by proactively guiding clients through every stage of a claim — from the initial report to final settlement, and beyond. You'll be a steady, knowledgeable point of contact during a stressful moment for clients, and this role also offers learning and development opportunities for someone looking to grow their career in insurance.

What You'll Do

• Offer professional guidance to clients through claims counselling conversations
• Consistently provide quality customer service by clearly communicating expectations and next steps
• Accurately gather required information from clients to issue a New Loss Notice to the insurance company
• Promptly issue and report new claims to the insurance company
• Contact clients within 24 hours of the initial reported claim and maintain contact throughout
• Effectively communicate with Claim Adjusters
• Help clients navigate challenges that arise during the process, escalating to the adjuster or claims manager when necessary
• Keep managers and the dedicated Client Account Manager updated on claim status and any issues requiring escalation
• Thoroughly document all conversations using the EPIC & Blue Butler systems
• Accurately capture and input claims data into the broker management system
• Administer Proof of Loss and claim cheque requirements, when required
• Connect clients with their dedicated Client Account Manager upon settlement for any resulting policy changes
• Support other broker-related responsibilities as needed, including managing the Claims inbox by uploading emails to the broker management system

What We're Looking For

• RIBO licence required
• Post secondary education, or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 3 years of insurance experience with strong claim and coverage knowledge across all lines of Personal Insurance, commercial lines experience is an asset
• Strong problem-solving and verbal communication skills
• Effective interpersonal skills, including listening, empathy, tact, and diplomacy
• A positive, customer-first attitude
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to adapt quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Industry designations (CAIB, CIP) are a plus

Work Environment & Schedule

• In-office
• Monday–Friday schedule (8:30am–4:30pm) with early Friday closures during summer long weekends
