INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN - BROOKS, ALBERTA

- The main processing plant in Brooks, Alberta, processing about 4,200 cattle daily.
- Head Office and a case-ready plant in Calgary, Alberta.
- JBS Ontario in Belleville, Ontario.
The Brooks facility produces a range of products including boxed beef primals, ground beef, beef trimmings, by-products, and hides, shipped across Canada and worldwide. The Calgary facility specializes in value-added products, and JBS Ontario produces fresh meat and seafood for Canadian retailers.
At JBS Canada, our people are our greatest asset. We are currently seeking an Instrumentation Technician to join our team in Brooks, Alberta. The role involves supporting computer/network equipment, including servers, switches, cabling, printers, and desktops.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide support for instrumentation and process control issues.
- Maintain and calibrate instrumentation and process control systems, developing maintenance strategies and schedules.
- Develop and implement asset care programs for instrumentation and automation systems.
- Support utility metering and related systems.
- Support the commissioning of new instrumentation.
- Regularly maintain equipment by adjusting components and testing functionalities.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair equipment as needed.
- Support validation activities.
- Lead and participate in failure analysis related to instrumentation and process control.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for process control and instrumentation.
Qualifications
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including procedure development.
- Strong organizational, planning, and customer service skills.
- Excellent communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical team members.
- Proficiency with Allen Bradley, PLC 5, RS Logix 500 & 5000 programming and troubleshooting.
- Experience with SQL servers.
- Knowledge of instrumentation such as I/P transducers and modulating valves.
- Proficiency with HMI systems, including Panelview, Factory Talk, and Wonderware.
- Instrumentation or Engineering certification required.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to read industrial drawings and P&ID diagrams, and follow PLC programs.
- Willingness to work in shifts, including afternoons and weekends.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Windows and MS Office suite.
