Job summary

Discovery Kidd Met Site in Ontario is seeking an Instrumentation Technician to join our maintenance team. You will perform installation, commissioning and maintenance of electronic control systems, including Foxboro DCS and PLCs, with emphasis on reliability.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will install instrumentation devices, test systems and assist in troubleshooting during projects and after completion, ensuring safety and adherence to high environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-year diploma as Instrumentation Technician with 3 years' industrial experience.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs (Modicon) and Foxboro DCS.
• CAAT and DAT testing completed or in progress.
• Dual electrical and instrumentation tickets preferred.

Responsibilities

• System administration of the Foxboro DCS and related controls.
• Maintenance of electronic control systems and instrumentation devices.
• Commission and troubleshoot during installation and after project completion.
• Install and test instrumentation devices.
• Hardware and software maintenance, monitoring and reporting.
• On-site preventive maintenance with backups, patches, cleaning and reporting.

The Position:

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the primary duties of this job is to perform maintenance, repairs, installation and commissioning of various electronic control systems. This may include, but is not limited to, the following:

• System administration of the site Foxboro DCS system
• Maintenance of electronic control systems
• Responsible for product support and services required to commission and troubleshoot problems during installation and after project completion
• Installing and testing instrumentation devices
• Hardware and software maintenance, monitoring and reporting
• On-site preventive maintenance such as system back up and restore, software patches, hardware cleaning and visual inspection with recommendations and reports

Skills and Qualifications:

• Have a minimum 2-year diploma as an Instrumentation Technician with 3 years experience in an industrial setting (preferably a milling environment)
• Strong knowledge of controls systems such as PLCs (Modicon) and DCS (Foxboro)
• Complete or have recently completed CAAT and DAT testing in a satisfactory manner.
• Preference will be given to applicants who have dual tickets in electrical and instrumentation.
