The Role
We are looking for an Instrumentation / Control Technician to support upcoming projects. You will work on maintaining and calibrating a wide range of instrumentation and control systems in compliance with GMP and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of a wide range of instrumentation, including temperature sensors, pressure transmitters, flow meters, analytical instruments (e.g., pH meters, conductivity meters), and control systems.
- Ensure that all instruments are operating within required tolerances and in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate calibration records, including calibration certificates and logs.
- Diagnose and resolve issues in instrumentation and control systems, including electrical, pneumatic, and electronic components.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in the installation, setup, and commissioning of new instruments, control systems, and automation equipment.
- Work closely with vendors and contractors during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and validation activities.
- Maintain and troubleshoot control systems, including PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) , SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, and Distributed Control Systems ( DCS ).
- Perform software modifications and backups for control systems as required.
- Create and update Standard Operating Procedures ( SOPs ) related to instrumentation and control systems. Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance, calibration, and repair activities to meet regulatory audit requirements.
- Participate in scheduled preventive maintenance programs to reduce equipment failures and extend the life of instruments.
- Identify potential equipment issues and recommend improvements or replacements.
- Identify and implement improvements to instrumentation and control systems to enhance production efficiency and quality.
- Stay updated on advancements in instrumentation and control technologies and recommend upgrades as necessary.
- Work closely with other departments, including manufacturing, maintenance, quality assurance, and engineering, to ensure seamless operations.
- Provide training and technical support to operators and other technicians on instrument operation and maintenance.
- Maintain Compliance with training requirements.
Requirements :
- Associate’s degree or certification in Instrumentation, Electronics, Automation, or a related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
- 2–5+ years of experience in instrumentation and control systems, preferably in a pharmaceutical or regulated environment.
- Proficiency in calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting process instruments (temperature, pressure, flow, etc.).
- Experience with PLC, SCADA, or DCS systems.
- Understanding of electrical schematics, P&IDs, and loop diagrams.
- Hands-on experience with calibration tools (e.g., Fluke meters, HART communicators).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with CMMS, control and automation systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
- Knowledge of validation lifecycle management and CAD tools is a plus.
