Job summary

Tundra Oil & Gas, based in Manitoba with offices in Estevan, SK, is seeking an Instrumentation Technician for its Estevan office. The role focuses on instrument and control system maintenance in field settings, with strong emphasis on reliability and safety.

Responsibilities include installing, servicing and diagnosing instrumentation and control systems, coordinating with contractors, and supporting upgrades while working in varied weather and remote locations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Instrumentation Technician trade certificate or diploma is an asset.
  • Valid class 5 driver's license.
  • Oil and Gas experience is an asset.
  • Instrument/electrical maintenance and repair knowledge.
  • PLC's and HMIs with ability to read programming code.
  • VFD's and related control wiring schemes.
  • Communication protocols and wiring: TCP/IP, ControlNet, Modbus, CANBus.
  • Industrial Radio communications: 900MHz and 5.2GHz ranges.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, benchmark and evaluate instruments for proper operation and reliability.
  • Coordinate monitoring, installation, service and reconditioning of equipment and control systems.
  • Perform repairs, installations and setup/ alignment for operation readiness.
  • Conduct operational checks, monitor performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Optimize equipment performance and provide corrective recommendations.
  • Oversee field activities/installations by contractors.
  • Participate in facility upgrades (injection/disposal wells, battery improvements).
  • Perform other related duties as required.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Tundra is excited to announce an opportunity for an Instrumentation Technician, based out of Estevan, SK office.

REPORTS TO:

Instrumentation Coordinator

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Monitoring, benchmarking and evaluating technology and field instruments to ensure proper operation, continuous improvements and reliability.
  • Coordinating and effecting the monitoring, installation, service, and reconditioning of a variety of equipment, instruments, and control systems.
  • Performing repairs, installations, and any work required to set up, align or otherwise prepare for operation.
  • Performing operational checks, monitoring performance, troubleshoot and related maintenance to identify and diagnose process and equipment issues.
  • Optimizing performance of equipment by monitoring the effectiveness and making corrective recommendations regarding instrumentation and electronic performance problems
  • Coordinate and oversee field activities/installations being performed by other contractors.
  • Participate in upgrades of existing facilities (e.g. injection/disposal well conversions, battery improvements, etc.).
  • Other related duties as required.
WHAT YOU NEED:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Instrumentation Technician Trade Certificate or Diploma is considered an asset
  • Valid class 5 driver's license
  • Oil and Gas experience considered an asset
  • Knowledge in the following areas:
    • Instrument/electrical maintenance and repair
    • PLC's and HMI's with ability to read programming code
    • VFD's and related control wiring schemes
    • Communication protocols and related wiring, TCP/IP, ControlNet, Modbus, CANBus
    • Industrial Radio communications systems, namely in the 900Mhz and 5.2Ghz range

  • Work under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Ability to workover time as necessary
