Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking an Intermediate Instrumentation and Controls specialist for its Edmonton and Calgary offices. Reporting to the Instrumentation & Controls Lead, you will provide instrumentation and controls design support on projects of varying size, scope, and complexity to ensure technical excellence, cost, and schedule adherence.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of Instrumentation, Communication & Controls experience in oil & gas, current SmartPlant Instrumentation knowledge, and EPC

Qualifications

• Technical Diploma in Instrumentation, Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering or related bachelor’s degree.
• 6+ years of direct Instrumentation, Communication & Controls in oil & gas; EPC experience preferred.
• Professional registration with APEGA or ASET in Alberta; other provinces a plus.
• Current experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Help instrumentation and controls design for projects of varying scope and complexity.
• Support client instrumentation, communication, and controls requests as needed.
• Produce instrument data sheets, specifications, schematics, wiring diagrams, control narratives, and P&IDs.
• Perform design work involving DCS, PLC, SCADA, control panels, analyzers and related equipment.
• Participate in HAZOP, PHA and SIL studies as required.
• Develop design criteria, cost estimates, schedules, and technical documents for instrumented systems.
• Review vendor drawings for compliance and assist with operating manuals and regulatory documentation.
• Travel to field for scoping, verification, and construction support.
