Job description

The Instrumentation and Electrical Technician inspects maintains repairs and installs mechanical electromechanical pneumatic and / or hydraulic equipment at plant and / or pump stations.

Main Responsibilities :

• Repair maintain install replace troubleshoot and diagnose various machinery and mechanical equipment such as : Centrifugepumps conveyors hydraulic press dewatering press belts fans utilizing hand tools and testing instruments;
• Inspect completed repairs and recommend appropriate solution;
• Perform all work with strict adherence to all applicable safety legislation and procedures;
• Estimates time and material costs on electrical and mechanical projects;
• Requisition supplies and materials as required and approved by management;
• Work from engineering drawings rough sketches manuals or verbal instruction and install equipment to diagram specifications;
• Provide performance feedback to workers to motivate or improve adherence to operating procedures or quality standards;
• Complete work orders as required and ensures appropriate followup communication;
• Disassemble machines and repair / replace / adjust parts accordingly;
• Clean and lubricate equipment parts and machinery;
• Maintain equipment in proper operating condition;
• May be required to perform machine operator duties on occasion;
• Assist coworkers with any questions or issues regarding task completion.

Qualifications :

Knowledge Skills and Experience :

• Valid 442A Electrician Licence and / or a Valid 309A Electrician Licence .

Dual Tickets while not required are valued and holders will receive an additional premium.

• Minimum of 2 years experience as an industrial electrician preferably in a heavy industrial environment such as water treatment chemical processing petrochemicals cement production or metal processing.
• Proficient at troubleshooting repairing maintaining and servicing all plant equipment in a timely manner.
• Experience with a variety of machinery vehicles material handling equipment hand and power tools.
• Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
• Thorough knowledge of all applicable safety legislation.
• Strong problem solving planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills. Must be fluent in English (read write and speak).
• Must be deadline oriented reliable and dependable on start and finish times as it impacts the operations
• Must have a valid drivers license with a safe driving record.
• Must Work well with others and possess good hand eye coordination.
• Must be comfortable rotating throughout the facility as required.
• Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities : Fastpaced environment Repetitive tasks physically demanding and attention to detail.
• Work Site Environment : Can get dusty recycling organic materials odour.
• Transportation / Travel Information : Own transportation
• Shifts : Rotating shifts : 6 : 00 AM 2 : 30 PM and 2 : 00 PM 10 : 30 PM. Weekend work will be required based on operational needs.
