Job description

SAIT’s School of Manufacturing and Automation, and School of Transportation provides the skills-based training and development to prepare students for a career in Alberta's rapidly growing transportation, manufacturing and automation sectors. We provide applied learning in action through our trades and technology programs.

We are currently recruiting a temporary full-time Instructor for our pre-employment Welding programs. Key Responsibilities/Major Duties
  • Present lessons, lectures, assignments, quizzes, lab activities and lab demonstrations for learners as per the applicable course outline
  • Develop course outlines, profiles, and curriculum
  • Participate in curriculum and program reviews
  • Prepare additional study and lab materials for learners
  • Evaluate student progress and achievement
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
  • Adhere to all safety legislation, guidelines and safety standards as required
  • Maintain close contact with relevant industry sectors
  • Perform related duties as assigned to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students
Qualifications
  • Minimum Journeyperson Welder Certificate, with B-Pressure Certificate preferred
  • Must have 5 years’ recent industry experience using welding applications and processes including GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, SAW, Oxy/fuel and plasma cutting
  • Teaching experience, curriculum development and design experience are considered assets
  • Relevant equivalent education will be considered
Skills & Knowledge
  • Aptitude for mentoring and coaching others, with a willingness to spend quality time to help students succeed
  • Comfortable with public speaking and have the ability to engagingly convey conceptual and practical course subjects to diverse students and learning styles
  • Ability to organize course concepts and materials to create an optimal learning environment
  • Possess a positive respectful attitude and desire to support team members and the Academic Chair with program improvements
  • Ability to adapt to situations such as unexpected workloads

Salary range: $85,388 - $91,482

Hours Per Week: 37.5
