Job Description
  1. Work with engineers, technologists, and tradespeople to support our clients in constructing critical oil and gas infrastructure projects.
  2. Provide CWB Retained Engineering Services to clients.
  3. Interpret regulatory, statutory requirements, codes, and customer specifications related to manufacturing, welding, and materials.
  4. Determine client requirements, develop testing methods to evaluate materials according to statutory requirements, construction standards, and good engineering practices.
  5. Develop testing protocols for welding procedure specifications, qualifications, and welding personnel qualifications under the guidance of the Welding Services Manager.
  6. Prepare and review in-house work orders, communicate testing requirements to other departments, and maintain traceability of samples and documentation.
  7. Interpret laboratory test reports and provide evaluations as needed.
  8. Mentor and guide Junior Technical staff.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in materials, metallurgical, or mechanical engineering from a recognized university. Must be a licensed P.Eng. with APEGA (Alberta).

Experience: Minimum of six years relevant engineering experience.

Certifications:
  • Licensed P.Eng. with APEGA (Required).
  • CWB Welding Engineer certification (Required).
  • CSA W178.2 Level 2 or 3 Welding Inspector Certificate of Compliance (Required).
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
  • Welding procedure development per ASME Section IX, CSA Z662, CSA W47.1/47.2/W186, AWS D1.1.
  • In-service welding and CSA Z662 clause 7.17.
  • CSA Z662 Annex K and fracture mechanics principles.
  • Experience with metallurgical testing laboratories, welding/fabrication shops, foundries, forge shops, or metal manufacturing facilities.
  • Mechanical aptitude, nondestructive examination methods, postweld heat treatment principles, and ability to read construction drawings.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, strong time management, attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of ASME Section IX, Section VIII Div. 1, B31.1, B31.3, CSA Z662, API, NACE, AWS standards.
  • Ability to produce clear, detailed technical reports.
