Vancouver Island University (VIU) seeks instructors to deliver the Activity Assistant certificate program for the 2026/2027 academic year, online and at the Nanaimo Campus. Duties include planning, preparing, and instructing program courses.
Successful candidates will use diverse teaching strategies, assess student learning, record grades, and support students, while collaborating with colleagues and industry partners.
The Faculty of Health Sciences and Human Services includes the Departments of Child and Youth Care, Dental Assistant, Dental Hygiene, Health Care Assistant, Nursing, Practical Nursing, Social Work, Kinesiology, and a Professional Development and Training department. The mission of the Faculty is to foster student success and develop and maintain relevant, responsive, and stimulating learning opportunities that are community-based, globally and locally, and offered in a visionary, interprofessional environment that is conducive to learning and promotes health and wellness for all. Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning, and student success. Successful candidates will participate in activities outside the classroom including student support and department committees.
Recreational Therapy Degree qualification from an appropriately accredited institution. Minimum 5 years of current and relevant experience as a Recreational Therapist.
