Job summary

CIMT College is seeking an Instructor to teach and supervise the PSW Clinical program in Canada. The role uses an Instructor Manual with provided courseware, and requires hands-on training to prepare students for employment. The incumbent will follow the manuals and employ diverse teaching methods in a supportive, professional setting.

Base pay rate CAD $20/hr-$23/hr with day and evening shifts; equal opportunity employer; commitment to accessibility and inclusion in the workplace.

Qualifications

  • Must have 36 months of work experience in the PSW/RN/RPN vocation.
  • Must be a PSW with a college certificate and a NACC certificate post-2015 or active RN/RPN registered under CNO.
  • Should have a valid Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Should have a valid TB test result.
  • Experience in a Canadian clinical environment, preferably LTC/hospital/community as PSW/RN/RPN active under CNO.
  • Hold a Bachelor degree from a Canadian university or equivalent; instructor qualification standards per Ontario Regulations.
  • Must be available to supervise in assigned Clinical Facility as per schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate thorough and accurate knowledge of the field.
  • Instruct curriculum using pre-authorized and provided materials.
  • Teach students using diverse and systematic plans including lectures, demonstrations, labs, and projects.
  • Employ adult teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to diverse students.
  • Administer and mark quizzes, assignments, exams, and other assessments.
  • Evaluate student performance fairly and return marks promptly.
  • Provide constructive feedback on student performance.
  • Arrange feedback from students on instructor, content, and facility.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs in a multicultural environment.
  • Resolve student complaints and concerns professionally.
  • Ensure classrooms are left clean and safe after class.
  • Support admissions with potential students and questions about the program.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings and annual events like graduation.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Stay current in subject matter through professional development.
  • Display teamwork and problem solving; perform other duties as required.

Job Summary

CIMT College is looking for someone to teach/supervise the PSW Clinical program.


Courseware, resources, evaluations, and daily lesson plans are provided in an Instructor Manual. The Instructor is responsible for following the provided instructor manuals and using the resource materials to train students with the required knowledge and skills to prepare them for employment in the field.


CIMT College places a premium on professional conduct, combined with excellence in classroom instruction, with primary emphasis on hands-on training.


WORKING Hours

Mon to Friday-Morning 6:30am/7 am to 2:30pm /3pm


OR


Mon to Friday -Evening 2:30pm/3pm to 10:30 pm/11pm


Duties and Responsibilities


  • Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of the field

  • Instruct curriculum using only pre-authorized and provided materials

  • Teach students using a diverse and systematic plan of lectures, presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory work, case studies, independent or group projects

  • Employ appropriate adult teaching and learning strategies to communicate the subject matter to diverse students

  • Administer and marks quizzes, assignments, exams and/or other assessments to monitor and evaluate students’ progress according to guidelines and procedures

  • Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student marks promptly

  • Provide feedback on student performance

  • Arrange feedback from students on the instructor, content, and facility at the end of each course

  • Demonstrate sensitivity to student needs and individual circumstances in a multi-cultural environment

  • Resolve student complaints and concerns with a positive and professional attitude

  • Assure that classrooms are left in a clean and orderly fashion at end of class without loss of or damage to equipment or other resources

  • Provide support to the admissions team with potential students who have questions about the program or future career

  • Participate in scheduled meetings and annual events like graduation

  • Maintain confidentiality of student privacy and information

  • Stay current in the subject matter through professional development

  • Display an attitude of teamwork and problem solving

  • Perform other related duties as required


Skills Required


  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database systems

  • Excellent oral and written communication to present information in a way that students will understand as well as adapt to the different learning styles

  • Professional business attire and interpersonal skills to act as a mentor and role model


Qualifications


  • Must Have minimum 36 months of work experience in the same vocation( PSW/RN/RPN ) AND

  • Must be a Personal Support Worker with a college certificate and a NACC certificate from a PSW program, post 2015 OR active RN/RPN registered under CNO

  • Should have a valid proof of Vulnerable Sector Check

  • Should have a valid proof of clear TB test result

  • Experience required in a Canadian clinical environment, preferably in a long-term care/hospital/community/ chronic care setting as as Personal Support Worker / RN/ RPN active under CNO

  • Hold a Bachelor degree from a Canadian university or an equivalent degree/Graduate of a College of Applied Arts and Technology or equivalent/ Graduate of a registered OCC or equivalent

  • Meet Instructor qualification standards as outlined in the Regulations to Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005

  • Must be available to supervise In assigned Clinical Facility as per the accepted schedule


Base Pay Rate- CAD $20/hr-$23/hr
