Job summary

NorQuest College is seeking a Casual Instructional Assistant to support Practical Nurse and Health Care Aide programs at Edmonton and Wetaskiwin campuses. You will facilitate lab learning, ensure safe practice, and assist with lab setup, materials, and documentation.

The role requires a Practical Nurse designation, CLHA registration with no restrictions, and current BLS. Experience in teaching is an asset; AUPE guidelines apply to this casual position.

Responsibilities

• Monitor attendance and performance records; provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with the college to maintain relationships across departments.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

• As a NorQuest Instructional Assistant, you will facilitate learning in the lab setting in Edmonton and/or Wetaskiwin, so the ability to travel to these locations is a requirement.


• Instructional Assistants help our learners acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitude to be successful and safe practitioners within their scope of practice.


• This role works with students on campus in the lab setting:
  
  
  • The hours of work can vary.
  
  
  • Lab courses are offered weekdays and weekends, during days and evenings.
  
  
  • Set up/ take down of lab according to lab schedule.
  
  
  • Monitoring and organizing of lab supplies, lab equipment, and lab materials.
  
  
  • Ensure lab materials are prepared prior to lab course.
  
  
  • Collaborate with lab team to ensure effective facilitation of lab courses.
  
  
  
  


• Responsibilities include supervising students, maintaining a facilitative and supportive learning environment, maintaining appropriate student records of attendance and performance, providing appropriate feedback to students on performance, notifying appropriate individual of student concerns, and developing and maintaining relationships with different areas of the college.


• You will need to possess excellent organizational and communication skills and have a passion for providing instruction and feedback that allows our students to apply skills in a safe and patient-centered way.

WHAT YOU BRING

• A Practical Nurse designation is required.


• At least 3 years of nursing or nursing education experience (or the equivalent in part-time experience).


• CLHA registration with no restrictions


• Current BLS


• Previous formal or informal teaching experience is an asset

AUPE Band Level 7 | Instructional Assistant II | $31.32 - $40.69 hourly reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience.
