Job summary

Borea Construction is seeking an Installation Quality Inspector to work on-site with wind turbine installations. You will collaborate with site teams, engineers, Superintendent, and coordinators to ensure compliance with technical procedures during assembly.

The role requires travel, on-site rotation, French and English communication, and a proactive approach to identify quality issues, provide solutions, and maintain quality documents.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in large civil construction.
  • Experience with substations or high-voltage installations is an asset.
  • Fluent in French; intermediate English for coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with the Superintendent of Assembly Works.
  • Execute the quality plan during inspections.
  • Act as intermediary between contractor and subcontractor on quality.
  • Identify quality problems and deviations.
  • Commit to finding solutions to problems.
  • Stop activities contravening quality or environmental constraints.
  • Oversee issue resolution until closed.
  • Write non-conformance reports if needed.
  • Support project members in implementing the quality plan.
  • Ensure the validity of quality documents and control them.
  • Conduct independent inspections per procedures and ITPs.
  • Ensure subcontractors' inspectors perform required inspections.
  • Ensure materials are compliant by lab or inspectors.
  • Monitor receipt of equipment and inventory.
  • Compile data and statistics related to the work.
  • Identify issues and monitor corrective actions.
  • Produce end-of-project records with Superintendent.

As an Installation Quality Inspector you will work closely with site teams responsible for the assembly of wind turbines. You will work closely with the Engineers, the Superintendent, the Coordinator and the site teams to ensure compliance with technical procedures on the site. This role is based on construction site on a full-time basis and therefore requires a high level of geographic mobility, as well as availability to work on a rotational schedule, based on project needs. To facilitate mobility, employees residing more than 120 km from the work site will be mobilized on site and may be eligible for certain benefits, in accordance with the company’s policies.

  • Hold bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in similar functions on the construction of large civil projects
  • Experience working in manifold substations or systems and/or high-voltage installations is an asset
  • Proficiency in spoken and written French
  • Intermediate proficiency in spoken and written English to interact with subcontractors, suppliers, clients, partners, and colleagues at the national level. Is required to participate in coordination meetings and deliver progress updates to English-speaking stakeholders
  • Good command of Office Suite, especially Excel
  • High geographical mobility and a valid driver's license
  • Ability to work in a team

  • Be able to adapt to a stressful environment and subject to weather fluctuations (construction site)
What you will do to complete this mission successfully:
  • Consult with the Superintendent of Assembly Works
  • Execute the quality plan throughout its labour inspections
  • Act as an intermediary between the contractor and the subcontractor with respect to the quality of the turbine installation work
  • Identify quality problems and deviation points in the overall quality and quality of the environment
  • Commit to finding, recommending and providing solutions to problems
  • Stop any activity that contravenes the quality of materials or environmental constraints
  • Oversee the process of resolving an issue until it is fully resolved
  • Write reports of non-conformance, if necessary
  • Support the project members in the implementation of the quality plan
  • Ensure the validity of quality-related documents and control them
  • Conduct independent inspections in accordance with the Enforcement Procedures and ITPs
  • Ensure that those responsible for subcontractors' work quality inspections do their job and carry out necessary inspections as required
  • Ensure that all materials used in the work are deemed compliant by an independent laboratory or by quality inspectors of the subcontractor
  • Monitor the receipt of equipment and inventory
  • Compile and interpret data and statistics related to the work performed
  • Identify issues and monitor corrective actions
  • Produce, in collaboration with the Superintendent, end-of-project records based on the progress of the work
