Society For Canadian Women In Science And Technology (SCWIST) seeks a STEM Explore Workshop Facilitator to deliver hands-on STEM workshops for elementary students in the Greater Vancouver Area. The role combines remote delivery with in-school sessions and regular travel to participating schools.

The successful candidate will have a BSc in a STEM field, 3+ years teaching/facilitation experience, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree or higher in a STEM discipline.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience teaching, tutoring, facilitating workshops, or delivering educational programming.
• Must be professionally fluent in English.
• Must live in the Greater Vancouver Area and travel to schools for in-person workshops.
• Strong understanding of STEM concepts and ability to communicate clearly to elementary students.
• Comfortable presenting to groups of students and teachers.
• Ability to adapt explanations to different ages and classroom needs.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Reliable, organized and able to manage workshop schedules independently.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and welcoming STEM learning environments.
• Ability to work with teachers, volunteers, facilitators and SCWIST staff.
• Comfortable handling and transporting workshop materials.

Responsabilités

• Facilitate in-person STEM Explore workshops in elementary school classrooms across the Greater Vancouver Area.
• Deliver content using SCWIST-created lesson plans, materials and guidelines.
• Explain STEM concepts in clear, age-appropriate ways for diverse learners.
• Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment during activities.
• Prepare for workshops by reviewing materials and instructions in advance.
• Coordinate schedules and required logistics with the STEM Explore Coordinator.
• Communicate professionally with teachers, staff and volunteers.
• Collaborate with volunteers and other facilitators.
• Assist with preparing, transporting and setting up workshop materials and kits.
• Follow safety procedures and document feedback after sessions.
• Contribute to improvements based on classroom experience.
