Job summary

North-Tech Stone and Ceramics in North Bay, ON is seeking an Inside Sales Representative to help customers find the right flooring solutions for homes and small businesses. You’ll work the showroom floor, handle inbound calls and walk-ins, quote jobs, and guide customers from first visit to signed order.

This full-time role offers CAD 22 per hour starting pay plus commission after a 3-month probation, with a positive, supportive team environment and employee discounts on flooring products.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of sales experience preferred; exceptions for the right candidate.
• Strong communication and closing skills; comfortable asking for the sale.
• Ability to read a room and quote a floor plan or measurement sheet.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist walk-in customers and phone/online inquiries
• Understand customer needs (budget, style, room type, timeline) and recommend the right products
• Prepare accurate quotes and estimates, including material and installation costs
• Follow up on open quotes and leads to close sales
• Coordinate with installation crews and schedule measurements/installs
• Visit customer homes/job sites to take measurements and check on jobs in progress
• Maintain product knowledge across flooring types (tile, Canadian hardwood, LVP, carpet)
• Process orders, handle paperwork, and keep the CRM/point-of-sale system up to date
• Build relationships with repeat customers, contractors, and designers
• Help maintain showroom displays and sample organization

Inside Sales Representative

Reports To: Robert Cheaney, Owner

Compensation: $22/hour to start + commission after 3-month probation (see below)

We specialize in tile, with a strong selection of Canadian hardwood, luxury vinyl plank (LVP), and carpet.

The Role

We're looking for an Inside Sales Representative to help customers find the right flooring for their homes and businesses. We have an amazing team already in place and we're looking for just one more great person to join us. 2-5 years of sales experience is preferred, but we'll make an exception for the right person - if you've got the drive and the sales instincts, we want to hear from you. You'll work the showroom floor, handle inbound calls and walk-in, quote jobs, and guide customers from first visit to signed order. This isn't cold-calling - it's consultative selling to people who are already motivated to buy.

What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

• 2-5 years of sales experience preferred (flooring, home improvement, or retail a plus) - but we're open to the right person regardless of years on paper
• Strong communication and closing skills - comfortable asking for the sale
• Ability to read a room and quote a floor plan or measurement sheet
• Comfortable with basic math (square footage, material calculations)
• Experience with CRM or POS software a plus
• Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented - quotes need to be accurate
• Valid driver's license required (for job site measurements and checking on active jobs)
• Neat, professional appearance expected
• A good eye for design and color coordination - helping customers match flooring to their space
• A team player who works well with installers, warehouse staff, and management

Compensation & Benefits

• $22/hour to start, plus commission on closed sales as outlined in our Commission Statement (commission begins after a 3-month probationary period)

Schedule

Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. No weekends. Store is closed between Christmas and New Year's.
