Purpose

Reporting to the Retail Manager, the Inside Sales Representative is responsible for growing business relationships with customers and maintaining high standards of customer service. A key focus of this role is business development for your region and Messer corporately.

What you’ll do
  • Assist customers in-store, including order preparation and follow-up.
  • Provide administrative and technical support to internal clients.
  • Implement creative customer service techniques, source products, and maintain satisfactory inventory levels.
  • Communicate effectively with external customers to increase counter sales through upselling.
  • Support the Branch Manager in achieving Key Performance Indicators, safety goals, and net operating profit.
  • Enter invoices into SAP, prepare credit notes, manage documents, and process telephone orders.
  • Actively seek new sales opportunities in-store and through outbound calls.
  • Enhance counter sales and handle customer inquiries via phone.
  • Assist with deliveries as needed.
  • Receive shipments from vendors and warehouses.
What it takes
Education and Experience
  • At least 1 year of inside sales or administrative experience, preferably in an industrial setting.
  • Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Key Skills and Attributes
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills.
  • Commercial competence.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Understanding of modern business systems.
  • SAP skills are an asset.
  • Knowledge of Messer products is desirable.
  • Ability to meet sales targets.
  • Understanding of processes and mechanical proficiency.
  • Capability to develop sales proposals.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and strong presentation skills.
  • Solid understanding of Excel.
