Job summary

Arcadis seeks a high performing Legal Counsel to support Canada's in-house Legal Team. The role focuses on contract review, negotiation and risk management for infrastructure and professional services projects across Canada.

Ideal candidates have 3–6 years post‑call experience and licensure in Ontario or another Canadian province, with familiarity with PDB, Alliancing and multi‑party contracting. You will work with project teams and external counsel to deliver compliant, commercially sound

Qualifications

• 3–6 years post-call experience in private practice or in-house (commercial, construction, infrastructure or professional services)
• Licensed to practice in Ontario, Alberta or another Canadian province
• Experience supporting infrastructure, construction, engineering or professional services matters
• Familiarity with PDB, Alliancing and other alternative delivery contracting models
• Experience advising on legal and contractual risk management; exposure to disputes or litigation is a plus

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive commercial legal support during pursuit, negotiation and delivery of contracts (Design‑Build‑Finance, Progressive Design‑Build, Target Cost Contracts, Alliance Contracting)
• Provide proactive guidance on legal and contractual risks to project and bid teams
• Support bidding processes by reviewing and negotiating client contracts from initiation to closure
• Experience working in multi‑party governance environments (joint ventures, lenders, public authorities)
• Partner with business leaders to deliver strategic objectives while mitigating risks
• Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize contractual disputes
• Collaborate with disputes counsel and risk management team for potential claims and disputes
• Exposure to professional negligence, indemnity or construction‑related claims is an asset
• Support external counsel management and budgeting as required
• Familiarity with project insurance structures (PSPL, surety bonds) is an asset
• Identify and manage risk for large infrastructure projects
• Interact effectively with clients, contractors and subcontractors across organizations
