Job summary

Give & Go Prepared Foods Corp. is seeking an Engineering Manager to plan, manage and execute infrastructure capital projects across designated plants. You will direct a team of project engineers and collaborate with the Sr Director, Engineering to optimize execution and training.

The role requires a university engineering degree, 8+ years of manufacturing infrastructure PM experience, P.Eng, and strong leadership, communication and mentoring skills.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • P.Eng designation preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years in Engineering, with infrastructure projects in manufacturing.
  • Experience leading construction projects above CAD 10 million.
  • Strong leadership, communication and mentoring abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and teams in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day management of projects, including stakeholder engagement and budget management.
  • Delegate assignments, coordinate and monitor engineering team progress.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to safety standards.
  • Capital forecasting and project closeout documentation.
  • Coach and develop the engineering infrastructure team to meet goals.

Job Overview

Responsible for the planning, management and execution of infrastructure capital projects in designated plants by directing, coaching and mentoring a team of project engineers assigned to the projects. The Engineering Manager will work with the Sr Director, Engineering to provide the tools, systems and training for the Project Engineer to optimize their execution effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all aspects of the day‑to‑day management of projects, including stakeholder engagement, contractor management, site safety and budget management
  • Delegate assignments, coordinate and monitor the work in progress of the engineering team
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to quality and safety standards
  • Capital forecasting and timely entry and closeout of projects
  • Provide coaching and guidance to Engineering infrastructure team members to meet goals and help them reach their full potential
  • Develop and monitor the process to ensure all equipment and work performed by or on behalf of Give & Go complies with all governing laws, practices, codes and regulations
  • Provide support to Operations & Facilities team by the effective transition of fully functioning operating systems and equipment for all projects; troubleshoot and implement potential solutions as required
  • Respond to internal and external information requests; assist with establishing standards, policies and procedures that will improve the Engineering Department’s overall performance
  • Ensure all project drawings and standard specifications are updated when changes are made as a result of renovations, new additions or maintenance over time (i.e. building layouts, mechanical/electrical changes)
  • Actively live and role model our Leadership competencies by holding self and team (including all direct report “people leaders”) accountable for creating a positive work environment and culture through administration of our People Processes and Tools
  • Performance Management: Ensure proper onboarding and development of all staff by completing induction process, coaching and developing capabilities, executing PDP start/mid‑year dialogues, and engaging in corrective action when required
  • Talent & Succession: Ensure job vacancies are filled by completing the required processes and representing the company with integrity throughout the recruitment process
  • Training: Ensure completion of function compliance training
  • Engagement: Ensure an engaged workforce through development of sound working relationships and execution of Employee Survey action plans

Recipe For Success
  • Completion of university degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in Engineering, preferably in the Food Manufacturing industry
  • 8+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with direct Project Management experience surrounding Infrastructure Engineering initiatives
  • Previous experience in leading a construction project above $10 million
  • Completion of P.Eng
  • Management of Construction Management companies in major complex infrastructure projects
  • Ability to handle higher levels of autonomy and complexity
  • Excellent Leadership and critical thinking skills – capable of leading cross‑functional teams to achieve project goals
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – ability to influence all levels of the organization to achieve project goals
  • Strong analytical skills including troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis to effectively lead teams to quickly identify issues, causes and sustainable corrective actions
  • Ability to hold others accountable and manage confrontation
  • Strong ability to mentor and motivate staff
  • Diverse set of experience and capabilities to help senior Project Engineers and Engineering Managers to improve and grow
  • Must be able to handle fast‑paced environment with competing priorities and demands
  • Must have strong computer (MS Office) and project management skills
