Job summary

The City of Courtenay is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer (Asset Management, Modelling & Planning) to support its growth by blending technical engineering, infrastructure modelling, asset management, and cross-departmental leadership for sustainable, resilient service delivery.

Reporting to the Manager of Asset Management, the successful candidate will coordinate cross-departmental planning, apply water, sanitary sewer, and drainage models, and guide long-range infrastructure decisions.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related municipal infrastructure field.
• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Geomatics, Environmental Technology, GIS, Asset Management, or related technical discipline with relevant experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in municipal engineering, infrastructure planning, asset management, development servicing, consulting engineering, or capital project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate cross-departmental, integrated infrastructure planning initiatives.
• Serve as a key link between Asset Management, Engineering, Operations, Development Services, and Finance.
• Facilitate discussions that shape long-term infrastructure, capital planning, and investment decisions across the organization.
• Work across asset management, infrastructure modelling, development servicing, and long-range planning.
• Apply and maintain water, sanitary sewer, and drainage models to support evidence-based planning and decision making.
• Support growth management, development review, master planning, and infrastructure renewal initiatives.
• Help build and enhance the City's asset management and planning practices.
• Collaborate with a diverse group of technical and operational professionals.

What You’ll Bring:

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geoscience, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, Planning, or a related discipline relevant to municipal infrastructure planning, OR


• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Geomatics, Environmental Technology, GIS, Asset Management, or a related technical discipline with relevant experience.


• 3-5 years of experience in municipal engineering, infrastructure planning, asset management, development servicing, consulting engineering, or capital project delivery.


• Experience with hydraulic, hydrologic, water quality, sewer, transportation, or infrastructure planning models is a strong asset.


• Experience facilitating meetings, workshops, stakeholder discussions, or interdepartmental teams is a key asset.
