Infrastructure/Backend Developer

We are seeking a skilled Infrastructure/Backend Developer to join our team to develop in-house systems and platforms, including PPI’s commission system.


The successful candidate will have a proficient understanding of cloud architecture, infrastructure-as-code, software development, GitOps, CI/CD, security principles, automated testing, and observability tools and methodologies. They will collaborate closely with PPI’s Infrastructure, Security, IT Operations, and Development teams to implement and maintain secure CI/CD environments for deploying in-house applications onto Cloud Infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and enhance PPI’s commission system in accordance with cybersecurity policies and DevSecOps methodology.
  • Manage data feeds, maintain databases, provide reporting, and develop macros/Power queries. Maintain tools for carrier feeds and enhance platform functionality.
  • Support other systems and tools across departments, including future phases of PPI’s secure Advisor Portal.
  • Investigate and implement AI, Robotics, and Machine Learning solutions to improve insurance business administration, collaborating with departments to identify opportunities.
  • Automate business and IT tasks such as user management, reporting, document indexing, scripting, and Azure deployment.
  • Build and maintain SQL Server Integration Scripts (SSIS) and web APIs.
  • Document processes and best practices for secure cloud infrastructure and application deployment.
  • Assist with deploying code via infrastructure-as-code, following change management protocols.
  • Coordinate with security, infrastructure, IT operations, and development teams to ensure proper controls are in place.
  • Support CI/CD environments and embed security controls like automated code assessments.
  • Help operationalize projects like the Advisor Portal, ensuring automation and security standards are met.
  • Produce operating instructions, conduct peer training, and document IaC artifacts for cloud deployment.
  • Liaise with third-party consultants on development, testing, and deployment of upgrades.
  • Support actions aligned with PPI’s ESG commitments for Advisors, clients, and employees.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • Degree in computer science or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of cloud development and architecture experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure, PowerBI, SQL.
  • Proficiency in C# (C++ preferred).
  • Proficiency with T-SQL and Stored Procedures.
  • Experience with DevSecOps methodologies, tools, and implementation.
  • Familiarity with testing/scanning tools (e.g., SonarQube, Snyk, BlackDuck).
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring/observability tools and GitOps.
  • Strong understanding of DevSecOps processes and governance.
  • Knowledge of branching strategies and value stream management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Experience in financial services or insurance is an advantage.

The expected salary range starts at $120,000 and will be commensurate with experience and skills.
