  • We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Infrastructure Automation Lead to lead the development and implementation of automation tools within our Infrastructure domain. This individual will focus on orchestrating and automating infrastructure tasks, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing scalability. You would also be responsible for mentoring junior members of the team, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring the environment is secure, efficient, and scalable. Over time, the role may expand into broader DevOps and end-user automation facilitation.

    The ideal candidate will have experience in customer or LOB-facing roles and vendor partners.

    More specifically, as part of your position, you will be called upon to:

    • Research, analyseand proposeof automation tools and best practice workflows
    • Follow and Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles for repeatable, scalable, and secure deployments
    • Design, develop, and maintain infrastructure automation solutions using tools such as Ansible and Terraform
    • Develop and maintain automation frameworks for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring integration with tools such as Grafana and Prometheus
    • Build CI/CD pipelines with GitLab and/or GitHub Actions to automate infrastructure deployments
    • Leverage expertise in Linux-based environments to integrate automation solutions with open-source technologies
    • Maintain and contribute to open-source automation tools used within the enterprise
    • Identify and implement best practices to enhance operational efficiencies through automation
    • Work with virtualization platforms such as OpenShift, Proxmox, and other cloud computing environments (AWS, Azure, etc.)
    • Work closely with infrastructure teams, cloud architects, and DevOps teams to align automation strategies
    • Work with cross technology teams to optimize cloud and on-premises resource utilization through automation
    • Participatein the development of the overall DevOps strategy and roadmap for the organization
    • Identifyareas for process improvement and working with the team to implement new tools and technologies to increase efficiency and reduce downtime
    • Providetechnical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the team, and ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard
    • Collaboratewith other teams across the organization to understand their development requirements and provide solutions that meet their needs
    • Developand maintaindocumentation and training materials to support the ongoing development of the team
    • Act as evangelist of Automation practice at Bombardier, deliver presentation and training to various audience (technical and non-technical)
    How to thrive in this role?
    • You have 10+ years of work experience in an IT role
    • You have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a DevOps or cloud engineering role, with a focus on designing, developing and maintaining complex CI/CD cloud services across multiple cloud platforms.
    • You hold a college or bachelor's degree in Information technology, or anothe related field
    • You have strong hands-on experience with Ansible, Terraform, Kubernetes, and GitLab/GitHub for automation.
    • You have a deep understanding of Linux administration, open-source tools, and virtualization technologies (OpenShift, Proxmox, etc.)
    • You have experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or others) and cloud-native automation.
    • You are proficient in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or PowerShell for automation tasks.
    • You have a solid knowledge of networking, security, and system performance in automated environments
    • You have strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • You have excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
    • You have experience with container orchestration and service mesh technologies.
    • You are familiar with FinOps and cost optimization strategies in automated cloud environments.
    • You possess a working knowledge with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform, including networking, security and automation experience.
    • You have expertise with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, as well as experience with configuration management and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Puppet or Chef.
    • You have leadership and mentorship experience, with experience leading and mentoring junior team members.
    • You have a demonstrated growth mindset, an enthusiasm to quickly learn new technologies and apply the knowledge acquired to solve business problems.
