The Intermediate Infrastructure Analyst architects, configures and supports medium complexity IT infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and administration, as per best practice. They also mentor more junior team members and present options/solutions to stakeholders as part of continuous improvement.
Key Accountabilities:
- Maintains and supports the network infrastructure.
- Designs, maintains, and supports corporate remote access solutions.
- Troubleshoots with Wireshark and other network/system analyzers.
- Responsible for the management of load balancers / proxy.
- Implements Domain Name System (DNS) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).
- Experience supporting network/server security solutions and patch management (firewalls, auditing tools).
- Experience supporting network infrastructure (firewalls/ switches/wireless/content filters).
- Physical cabling and patch panel lifecycle management
- Knowledge of principles of firewalls, wireless access controllers and access points, network access control systems, and enforcing network security for wired and wireless.
- Knowledge of enterprise network and how to interconnect multiple networks and to provide network connectivity to various system to implement new hardware or troubleshoot any arising issue.
- Knowledge of network security used to manage network appliances (firewalls, web filters, spam filters) and solutions to defend the network and business systems from threats and unauthorized access to internal/external resources.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, switching and routing concepts, network concepts (VLANs, Spanning tree), active directories, and identity provider solutions.
- Knowledge of switches, firewall, router, and clean access servers.
- Understanding of Quality of Service (QoS).
- CCNA certification
- Supports IT infrastructure and end user support to ensure optimal performance.
- Acts as SME in proactively maintaining and supporting Ornge’s virtualized and/or appliance infrastructure (head office and disaster recovery site) and increasing the server virtualization ratio to lower energy and technology costs/physical footprint, increase systems uptime, and faster server provisioning.
- Provides Tier2/Tier3 infrastructure escalation point for business-critical third-party applications/systems and is on-call 24/7.
- Provides domain application support.
- Leads medium complexity technical architectural design to ensure approach meets needs of the organization and users and the best practices are met.
- Ensures proposed solutions follow our technical standards and are efficient, simple, secure, and effective.
- Applies experience, judgment, business application, system knowledge, and technical skill to assist team in meeting goals.
- Assist privacy officer in audits and freedom of information requests.
- Implements, and tests disaster recovery procedures.
- Acts as a mentor for helpdesk staff.
- Updates server documentation and manuals.
- Performs shell scripting or other basic scripting tasks.
- Accountability 5: Aligns vendor specific standard procedures and in-house specific policies and guidelines to determine how tasks are to be carried out including proper sequencing for upgrades.
- Participates in request for proposal (RFP) and request for quote (RFQ) processes.
- Provides third party vendor management.
- Provides expertise in various business projects from a technical perspective.
- Researches and implements Proof of Concepts to test emerging technologies.
Qualifications:
- University Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience and I.T. infrastructure experience.
- Extensive experience in managing the architecture, coordination, and delivery of medium complexity infrastructure solutions.
- Proven track record of mentoring team members, collaboration and relationship building.
- Experience with business stakeholder collaboration and relationship building.
- Experience in formal project management (i.e. Agile, PMP).
- Applicable CompTIA designations/certifications is preferred.
