Job summary

City of Kamloops is seeking a permanent, full-time Infrastructure Administrator to manage servers, storage, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Active Directory, and a growing cloud and hybrid environment.

You will work with engineers and admins to keep systems healthy, tackle projects, and help shape where our infrastructure goes next. A CS/CE degree (or equivalent) plus infra certs and 5 years Tier 3 experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree or an equivalent degree OR a combination of a diploma in a Computer Science related field AND Infrastructure or Network Certifications covering data management and security, cloud computing, networking, and/or Microsoft backend platforms.
  • Minimum two years previous experience that includes managing VMWare, Windows Server Administration, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 Administration.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the technology that keeps the City running — servers, storage, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Active Directory, and a growing cloud/hybrid environment.
  • Work closely with engineers and admins to keep systems healthy, tackle projects, and help shape future infrastructure directions.
  • Support a unionized environment and adherence to CUPE Local 900 collective agreement.

Position Overview

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:

Completion of a Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree or an equivalent degree OR a combination of a diploma in a Computer Science related field AND Infrastructure or Network Certifications (covering data management and security, cloud computing, networking, and/or Microsoft backend platforms) AND 5 years Tier 3 recent experience in a combination of Infrastructure and Network.

Minimum two years previous experience that includes managing VMWare, Windows Server Administration, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 Administration.

For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. A comprehensive benefits package is included with this position. This is a unionized position with CUPE Local 900; check out our Collective Agreement (2024 - 2025) for full details (ratified 2026 Collective Agreement coming soon). As this is a unionized position, all qualifications must be met in order to be shortlisted for the position.
