Job summary

The City of Kamloops is seeking a permanent, full-time Facility Maintenance Technician to keep our municipal buildings safe, functional, and looking their best. From drywall repairs and door adjustments to outdoor clean‑ups and minor plumbing fixes, your work will be visible every day.

Qualifications include completion of senior secondary school, at least two years of facility maintenance experience (plumbing, HVAC, carpentry), ability to obtain Residential Building Maintenance Worker

  • Minimum two (2) years previous facility maintenance experience including plumbing, HVAC and carpentry related work.
  • Ability to obtain Residential Building Maintenance Worker Certification within two years.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain RCMP Reliability Security Clearance.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:

  • Completion of senior secondary school or its equivalent.
  • Minimum two (2) years previous facility maintenance experience including plumbing, HVAC and carpentry related work.
  • Ability to obtain Residential Building Maintenance Worker Certification within two years.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain RCMP Reliability Security Clearance. If you are unable to obtain or maintain an RCMP Reliability Security Clearance, your employment with the City will be terminated. (To be considered for an RCMP Reliability Security Clearance, applicants must be a Canadian citizen or have Permanent Resident Status in Canada. Note: individuals with Permanent Resident Status must have resided (physically present) in Canada for the last five (5) consecutive years).
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
  • Candidates will be asked to provide examples of their work experience in each Job Task category (Section D) and must have their current or former employer sign off on their relevant work experience.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 3,000 hours preforming the tasks in Section D to obtain the job.

This is a unionized position with CUPE Local 900; check out ourCollective Agreement (2024 - 2025) for full details (ratified 2026 Collective Agreement coming soon). As this is a unionized position, all qualifications must be met in order to be shortlisted for the position.

For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check.
