Job summary

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board is seeking an Information Systems Technologist to maintain and support technology across all school sites and the board office. This role ensures reliable, secure technology use and responsive end-user support.

Responsibilities include deploying and supporting endpoint devices, classroom technology, and networked systems, documenting solutions, and assisting with technology lifecycle processes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two-year post-secondary diploma in Information Technology or related field.
  • Minimum three years of relevant tech support experience in a networked/educational environment.
  • Experience supporting endpoint devices, OS, productivity platforms, classroom tech, and networked systems.
  • Certifications or ongoing progress toward certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+; Microsoft, Google, Apple, Cisco, cybersecurity, ITIL 4) considered an asset.
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver's Licence and regular vehicle access.

  • Provide on-site technical support to staff and authorized users using approved tools.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, OS, connectivity, and application issues.
  • Install, configure, deploy, maintain, and support endpoint devices and classroom technology.
  • Support Microsoft, Google, ChromeOS, Apple, Windows, macOS, iPadOS and cloud-based environments.
  • Research, test, and recommend technology solutions to improve service delivery and reduce recurring problems.
  • Document service requests, troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and procedures.
  • Assist with technology inventory, asset tracking, lifecycle, warranty, and repair processes.
  • Support cybersecurity, privacy, accessibility, acceptable use policies and board procedures.
  • Provide user training and support in a clear, professional, customer-focused manner.
  • Collaborate with IT staff, school admins, vendors, and end users to align with technology priorities.

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board invites applications for the position of: Information Systems Technologist

Permanent Full-Time

Effective immediately

The Information Systems Technologist supports Board-owned technology across all school sites and the Board office. This position installs, configures, troubleshoots, repairs, maintains, upgrades, and supports endpoint devices, classroom and administrative technology, applications, peripherals, and related networked systems. The Information Systems Technologist also supports reliable, secure, and effective technology use by responding to technical issues, documenting solutions, assisting with technology lifecycle processes, supporting end users, and researching, testing, and recommending practical solutions to recurring or emerging technology needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site technical support through approved service tools to staff and other authorized users.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, operating system, connectivity, and application issues.
  • Install, configure, deploy, maintain, upgrade, and support Board-owned endpoint devices, peripherals, classroom technology, and approved applications.
  • Support current Microsoft, Google, ChromeOS, Apple, Windows, macOS, iPadOS, and cloud-based productivity environments, as applicable.

Qualifications And Experience
  • Minimum two-year post-secondary diploma in Information Technology, Computer Systems Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience providing technical support in a networked, enterprise, educational, or similarly complex environment.
  • Experience supporting endpoint devices, operating systems, productivity platforms, classroom technology, peripherals, and network-connected systems.
  • Relevant industry certification, or progress toward certification, is considered an asset. Examples may include CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft, Google, Apple, Cisco, cybersecurity, endpoint management, or ITIL 4 Foundation.
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver's Licence and regular access to a vehicle.
Knowledge And Skills
  • Working knowledge of endpoint devices, operating systems, applications, browsers, printers, classroom technology, mobile devices, and networked environments.
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi concepts, account access, network printing, remote support tools, endpoint security, and safe technology practices.
  • Ability to investigate unfamiliar technical issues and identify practical solutions.
  • Well-developed technical troubleshooting, analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to explain technical information clearly to users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritize competing demands, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Additional Posting Information

Current compensation, inclusive of Market Value Adjustment (MVA): $51,499 to $68,548 annually, in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.
