Job summary

West Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd. seeks an Information Systems Specialist to manage and maintain the site's OT infrastructure at the Madsen Mine in Red Lake, Ontario. You will implement, configure, and test software platforms at OS and communications levels for reliable operations.

You will provide daily IT support, develop security infrastructure, admin Windows Server, AD and MS 365, and participate in IT budgeting and project work to advance safe, efficient mining operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years IT experience.
• Industrial/ mining setting experience preferred.
• Post-secondary IT/CS degree required or related discipline.
• SME in data centre technologies incl. servers, storage, virtualization, monitoring, backup and recovery.
• Scripting & automation experience (PowerShell, Python).
• Networking knowledge advantageous.
• Exposure to Process Control Systems desirable.
• Safety practices knowledge for mining/resources industry.
• Excellent communication with strong user focus.
• Strong time management and multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily IT support to site end users, including setup, network support, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain and secure the site IT network and infrastructure.
• Develop and implement critical network security and data network operation.
• Configure and manage server infrastructure (Windows Server, AD, MS 365).
• Administer databases and client workstations.
• Develop IT policies and procedures and perform risk analysis.
• Contribute to IT projects and manage IT annual budget.
• Provide technical expertise to site teams on emerging technologies.

Information Systems Specialist

West Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd. is a Canadian gold exploration and development company focused on restarting and expanding the historic Madsen Gold Mine in the Red Lake District of Northwestern Ontario. Reporting to the Director of Finance, Operations , the successful candidate is responsible for the technical implementation, configuration and ongoing operational health and maintenance of site Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure that includes Process Control (PCS) and Fleet Management (FMS) environments. The successful candidate will write, modify, integrate and test the coding of the software platforms at the operating systems level and communications software level for the Red Lake Madsen Mine. The rotation schedule for this position will be determined based on operational requirements and the successful candidate's availability, experience, and business needs.

About the Candidate:

• Minimum 5 years experience in IT
• Experience in industrial setting, preferred
• Post secondary qualification in IT / Computer Science or related discipline
• Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the area of Data Centre technologies including Servers, Storage, Virtualization, Monitoring/Alerting, Backup and Recovery.
• Demonstrated experience in scripting & automation (e.g. Powershell, Python).
• Understanding of networking technologies would be advantageous.
• Exposure to Process Control Systems highly desirable
• Exposure and experience in safety practices ideally in the mining or the resources industry.
• Excellent communication skills with strong user focus.
• Strong time management & organizational skills - able to prioritize & multitask.
• Proven IT change management, incident and problem management skills.

About the Role:

• Responsible for various IT functions at the mine site
• Provide daily IT support to the site end users including users set up, network support, troubleshooting, application of software and hardware
• Ensure the site IT network is maintained and functioning
• Assist in developing critical network security infrastructure and operating of data network equipment. Ensure the IT infrastructure is secure
• Ensure a proper setup and configuration of server infrastructure
• Administer various IT systems including Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Remote Desktop, Databases, client workstations.
• Develop IT policies & procedures
• Provide IT risk analysis and ways to mitigate the risk
• Make improvements to the existing IT infrastructure
• Work on on-going, incoming and ad hoc IT projects.
• Provided Technical expertise to the site teams with IT emerging technologies
• Assist in managing IT annual budget
• Other duties as assigned
