Job summary

West Red Lake Gold Mines Ltd. is seeking an Underground Mine Supervisor to lead the mining team at the Madsen project in Northwestern Ontario.

The role requires strong planning, leadership, safety compliance and the ability to coordinate with contractors and service providers. You will ensure activities comply with OHSA (Ontario) and environmental standards, develop production targets, and foster continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in an underground mine.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong leadership, team-building and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• Mine rescue experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure underground mining activities meet OHSA Ontario standards.
• Comply with safety requirements and company policies.
• Assist with development of production targets and meet/exceed them.
• Maintain relationships with Contractors, Suppliers and Service Providers.
• Promote continuous improvement and conduct training.
• Interphases with other Supervisors and the Management team.
• Reviews mining methods.
• Leads direct manpower to achieve planned results.
• Completes daily, weekly, and monthly safety compliances.
• Other duties as required.

About The Candidate

• A minimum of 5 years of Supervisory experience in an underground mine.
• Supervisory common core.
• Strong leadership and team building skills to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse workforce.
• Instills a “team” approach in working with other operating departments.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Good problem solving and decision-making skills as well as superior written and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal, influencing, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal/relationship skills.
• Proficient in the use of computer systems and software, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams)
• Ability to communicate with individuals and or groups at all levels of the organization, written and oral.

About The Role

Underground Mine Supervisor position offers a competitive base salary rate between $145,000-$165,000, with the with eligibility to participate in a bonus program.

The Underground Mine Supervisor will inspire the mining team to create a safe, motivated and productive environment which leads to innovative continuous improvement. This position requires an individual who has a strong mining background with good planning, organizing, leadership capabilities and communication skills.

• Ensures underground mining activities are conducted in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ontario) and Regulations and environmental standards
• Complies with all safety requirements and observes all company policies and procedures
• Assists with the development of production targets and ensures production targets are met or exceeded
• Maintains effective working relationships with Contractors, Suppliers and Service Providers, and ensures adherence to contractual requirements
• Develops a sense of continuous improvement and ensures appropriate training programs are conducted and followed
• Interphases with other Supervisors and the Management team
• Reviews mining methods
• Leads direct manpower to achieve planned results
• Completes daily, weekly, and monthly safety compliances
• Other duties as may be required
