Job summary

MetCredit is seeking a permanent Information Systems Specialist for its Edmonton Head Office to support internal IT systems, business applications, infrastructure, user access, and technical support. You will review, maintain, and improve internal IT processes to ensure efficient operations across the organization.

The role includes analyzing requirements, troubleshooting issues, documenting processes, assisting with testing and implementation, and recommending improvements to IT infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in information technology, computer systems, computer science, information systems, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in an information technology, systems support, application support, network support, or information systems role.
  • Knowledge of internal IT systems, user support, system access administration, troubleshooting, documentation, and IT process support.
  • Ability to analyze technical issues and recommend practical solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues clearly to internal users.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate technical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal departments and external vendors when required.
  • Knowledge of privacy, confidentiality, information security, and secure handling of company information.

Responsibilities

  • Review, support, and maintain MetCredit’s internal information systems, business applications, and IT processes.
  • Analyze internal technology issues and identify areas for improvement within the company’s IT infrastructure, system workflows, and business applications.
  • Provide technical support to internal users regarding software, hardware, systems access, network connectivity, internal applications, and workstation-related issues.
  • Assist with the implementation, testing, maintenance, and documentation of IT systems, software updates, system changes, and business application improvements.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot technical issues related to user accounts, permissions, workstations, internal applications, network access, and system availability.
  • Maintain user access controls, permissions, and technology security procedures in accordance with company policies and confidentiality requirements.
  • Document IT support requests, troubleshooting steps, system changes, procedures, and resolutions in an organized and accurate manner.
  • Review existing IT systems and internal processes to recommend improvements, efficiencies, and technical solutions.
  • Liaise with internal departments to understand technology needs and provide appropriate IT support, guidance, and recommendations.
  • Assist with data, reporting, application support, system integrity, and technical continuity as required for business operations.
  • Support continuity of IT operations across MetCredit’s Alberta office and connected business units.
  • Escalate complex technical, infrastructure, cybersecurity, access-control, or vendor-related matters to the appropriate internal or external resource.
  • Participate in IT projects, system upgrades, application testing, implementation planning, technical documentation, and process-improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all IT work is performed in accordance with company policies, privacy obligations, confidentiality requirements, and applicable security standards.

Job description

MetCredit is now taking applications for a permanent full-time Information Systems Specialist for our Edmonton Head Office. This individual will support the company’s internal information technology systems, business applications, infrastructure, user access, and technical support needs. The position is responsible for reviewing, maintaining, supporting, and improving internal IT systems to ensure efficient business operations across the organization.

The Information Systems Specialist will analyze system and user-support requirements, troubleshoot technical issues, maintain access controls, document technology processes, assist with system testing and implementation, and recommend improvements to MetCredit’s information systems and IT infrastructure.

Position Responsibilities:

This position is required to support MetCredit’s ongoing internal technology operations, business applications, employee support needs, system continuity, and IT infrastructure. The role supports daily business operations by helping ensure that employees have appropriate access to systems, technology issues are addressed, internal applications remain functional, and system-related improvements are implemented and documented.

Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting business applications, internal systems, user accounts, permissions, and IT infrastructure in a corporate environment.
  • Experience using ticketing systems, remote support tools, technical documentation, and system troubleshooting procedures.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, access control, network support, system administration, and business-continuity practices.
  • Collection Agency experience is a strong asset
Conditions of Employment:
  • You must have a valid work permit, have permanent residency or be a Canadian Citizen
  • Be available for full-time work in the office (8:30 am - 5 pm Monday through Friday)
  • Located in Edmonton’s head office (remote work not available)
  • You will undergo a criminal records check
