The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a part-time, contract (15 months) Information Specialist to work in the Concurrent Outpatient Medical Psychosocial Addiction Support Service (COMPASS) to support specialized initiatives, including The Next Chapter project. Reporting to the Manager, the successful candidate will provide support to the service by working with the inter-professional team to help serve clients as they move through the intake, assessment and referral processes. Responsibilities include receiving referrals; gathering collateral information; answering clinical information calls or questions for clients and service providers; conducting phone screens, and risk assessments as needed; scheduling appointments; database management; data entry and analysis; chart review & audit; wait times and wait list management; administration of referrals; and assistance with clinical program needs. The Information Specialist will work effectively and strategically with program staff and various internal and external stakeholders, and possess an in-depth knowledge of relevant addiction treatment programs both in CAMH and the community, including their eligibility criteria, treatment model, and referral process. Occasional responsibilities will include coverage of reception desks, crisis support, and other related duties as assigned. A commitment to high quality of customer service is required. You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. The position is Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, and some flexibility and evening hours may be required.This position is located at 1001 Queen Street West.
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in a health related discipline combined with two years of related experience. Experience in mental health and/or addiction is also an asset, as will be knowledge of risk factors for clients with addictions and experience in supporting clients who may call in crisis. You will have proficiency with I-CARE, word processing, Excel and database software packages and ability to learn new computer software systems. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, interviewing and organization skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced dynamic team environment are required. You will have sound analytical and problem-solving skills and must demonstrate sound judgment and the ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures. You will be detail-oriented, flexible, adaptable and customer-service oriented. Previous experience working or volunteering in a health services or academic setting would be an asset. Familiarity with electronic health records is essential as is an understanding of medical terminology. The candidate will possess the ability to work with individuals of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
