Reporting to the Industrial Safety and Security Manager, the Industrial Safety and Security Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the planning, organization, and control of all industrial safety and security activities, which include their implementation and application. He/she will ensure that the exploration camp’s operations is safe and that the company’s assets are protected. Based at the Windfall site in the Nord-du-Québec region, the candidate will work an eight (8) day work schedule followed by six (6) days off. Transportation, accommodation and meals will be provided.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Manage the team of industrial safety advisors;
•Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of the Health and Safety Management System (HSMS);
•Evaluate, suggest and implement industrial health and safety policies and programs to ensure the site's safety and contribute to their improvement;
•Advise managers and employees on health and safety matters;
•Participate in the development of risk analysis and investigations of potentially fatal category 4 or 5 accidents;
•Conduct safety checks and compliance audits;
•Respect health and safety and environmental policies and rules at all times, and make sure that staff adheres to them;
•Participate in the implementation of health, safety, industrial security and emergency measures for an operational mine site;
•Perform any other tasks related to the Industrial Safety and Security Coordinator position that are relevant to the success of the project.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•University degree in occupational health and safety or related field. A combination of experience and education may be considered;
•5 years' experience in health and safety and mining or exploration;
•Management experience;
•A valid Class 5 driver's license;
•An explosives license;
•Mining modules (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7);
•Bilingualism (French and English) an asset. Will have to work with English-speaking consultants. French is the first language at work.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
•Knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety and mining legislation;
•Knowledge of HSMS;
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, etc.).
BASIC SKILLS
•Demonstrate rigor and excellent analytical skills;
•Strong positive leadership skills;
•Good organizational, planning and priority management skills;
•Good written and verbal communication skills;
•Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
