Job summary

FED Group in Canada seeks a Senior Industrial Project Manager to lead mechanical capital investments in a heavy manufacturing plant. You will own projects from identifying needs to commissioning, coordinating equipment, contractors and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Extensive CAPEX project experience in heavy manufacturing.

I am currently recruiting a Senior Industrial Project Manager for a major manufacturing company located in the Montérégie region. You will join a heavy industrial environment characterized by complex production equipment and major capital investment projects. We are primarily looking for an experienced project manager who can take ownership of industrial projects from A to Z, coordinate multiple stakeholders, and lead capital investments through to commissioning. This is not a pure mechanical design position, but rather a technical and operational project management role, with a strong hands-on presence on the plant floor.YOUR MISSIONSAs part of the engineering team, you will be responsible for a portfolio of mechanical capital investment projects (CAPEX) related to the modernization, replacement, and installation of industrial equipment.You will work on a variety of projects, ranging from improving equipment reliability to implementing new equipment or complete production lines.Your responsibilities will include:Lead industrial projects of varying scope and complexity, including multi-million-dollar capital investments;Take ownership of the entire project lifecycle, from identifying the need through to commissioning;Define project objectives, technical requirements, budgets, and timelines;Structure projects, establish priorities, and coordinate the different phases of execution;Prepare technical specifications and participate in defining technical solutions with the relevant specialists;Manage the bidding process, analyze proposals, and select suppliers and contractors;Closely monitor project budgets, timelines, risks, and execution quality;Coordinate internal production, maintenance, and engineering teams, as well as external partners;Supervise work on site and ensure compliance with specifications, technical requirements, and health and safety standards;Anticipate issues, make the necessary decisions, and implement corrective actions;Plan major interventions while taking production constraints and scheduled shutdowns into account;Oversee equipment installation, testing, and commissioning;Support operations teams in taking ownership of new equipment;Ensure proper project documentation and closeout.YOUR PROFILEWe are looking for a senior, structured, autonomous professional with strong hands-on leadership skills.Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a relevant field;Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);Significant experience managing industrial projects, ideally within a heavy manufacturing environment;Proven experience managing CAPEX projects, equipment installations, or equipment modernization initiatives;Ability to manage complex projects involving multiple disciplines and stakeholders;Strong skills in managing budgets, schedules, suppliers, and contractors;Good technical understanding of mechanical equipment and industrial installations;Experience in demanding industrial environments such as metallurgy, steel, mining, pulp and paper, cement, industrial chemicals, or continuous-process industries;Ability to lead projects within an operating plant while taking operational constraints into account;Strong leadership, persuasion skills, and the ability to defend technical recommendations;Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with a high level of autonomy;Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders with different personalities and backgrounds;Fluent French and professional English, both spoken and written, for communication with international suppliers.The Profile That Will Make the DifferenceAbove all, you are a project manager who understands the realities of the industrial environment.You have already led complex projects, coordinated multiple contractors, managed significant budgets, and delivered installations while meeting established objectives.You know how to move a project forward, even when technical, operational, and human constraints become increasingly complex.Your strength lies as much in your ability to organize, anticipate, and make decisions as it does in your ability to mobilize teams and gain the support of different stakeholders.You enjoy being at the heart of operations and seeing your projects take shape directly on the plant floor.ConditionsPermanent, full-time position;Location: Montérégie;On-site position, directly within an industrial facility;Primarily daytime schedule, with flexibility depending on project requirements;Occasional involvement in major interventions during scheduled plant shutdowns.
