Progima, an industrial engineering firm, is seeking a Manufacturing Project Manager for Montreal South Shore to coordinate operations and construction professionals to deliver a production-ready plant. You will read drawings, design production layouts, manage timelines, and supervise equipment installation, cranes, and utilities, ensuring alignment with client requirements.

Qualifications

  • Degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, operations management, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in large-scale project management (complex multi-project initiatives, plant transformation).
  • 3–5 years of experience in construction site management.
  • 3–5 years of experience in industrial operations (Methods, Industrial Engineering Dept, Continuous Improvement).
  • 3–5 years of experience in production layout design (developing factory floor plans at the operational level).
  • Experience in expansion projects, industrial or commercial layout, office fit-outs, or general renovations.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with construction crews, engineers, architects, and subcontractors.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret technical drawings (structural, architectural, mechanical, civil, etc.).
  • Help plan and design production layouts.
  • Participate in site coordination meetings and meetings to clarify client and operational requirements.
  • Conduct site visits in accordance with coordination requirements.
  • Project management, organizing and documenting follow-up meetings.
  • Issue and manage all change requests submitted by the client and apply them to the plans produced by construction professionals.
  • Adhere to overall project timelines and deliverables.
  • Support the management of industrial projects, including the installation of new equipment, overhead cranes, and infrastructure.
  • Ensure the interface between the industrial engineering group responsible for layouts and the building requirements for construction professionals.
  • Maintain oversight of the building through evolving tools such as 3D modeling.
  • Manage issues and quickly find solutions.
  • Monitor the progress of the work, deliverables, and technical issues.
  • Ensure smooth communication between internal and external stakeholders.

Complete Job Description

The Industrial Engineering and Construction Project Manager will be responsible for representing operations and production in dealings with construction professionals to ensure that the new plant is delivered “as planned” with the desired production layout. The Project Manager must therefore have an excellent understanding of the plant’s future operational and industrial processes and serve as the liaison and coordinator with the construction professionals involved in building the new industrial facilities that will enable our client to triple its production. In addition, the Project Manager may be required to manage projects involving the specification, procurement, and monitoring of equipment. All tasks are therefore related to the delivery of the base building to meet the installation requirements for the various production process equipment. The role requires a structured, self-reliant individual with solid knowledge of standard industrial operational requirements, strong skills in reading and interpreting construction drawings, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

This role is essential for coordinating between construction teams, technical professionals, and operations.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • 3–5 years of experience in a world‑class industrial corporate environment.
  • Experience in expansion projects, industrial or commercial layout, office fit‑outs, or general renovations.
  • ASP Construction card is an asset.
  • Experience at a world-class company, including management at various corporate levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of modern manufacturing environments.

Technical Skills

  • Proven knowledge of AutoCAD/DraftSight.
  • Understanding of the Building Code is an asset.
