Job summary

Johnson Electric in Mississauga, ON is seeking a skilled Millwright/Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, install and commission industrial machinery. You’ll apply hydraulics, pneumatics and precision mechanical work to keep production safe and reliable.

Preferred candidates hold a Millwright certificate or Red Seal with 5+ years of hands-on maintenance. Willingness to work shifts and coordinate with contractors is essential; CMMS usage is expected.

Qualifications

• Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Mechanic Millwright, Red Seal, or provincial equivalent preferred.
• Completion of a recognized Millwright Apprenticeship preferred.
• Five years of relevant hands-on industrial maintenance experience if no Millwright certification.
• One to five years of industrial maintenance experience.
• Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing industrial machinery in a manufacturing setting.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, gear drives, rotating equipment, and related mechanical systems.
• Ability to read equipment drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to safety and ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced mechanical maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on pumps, valves, motors, gearboxes, actuators, conveyors and related equipment.
• Analyze failures, identify root causes and recommend repair or replacement solutions.
• Install, dismantle, align, inspect, test, and commission stationary machinery and equipment.
• Interpret manuals and drawings and suggest improvements where appropriate.
• Perform precision work including alignment, rigging, welding, pipefitting and fabrication.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with external contractors as needed.
• Oversee contractors to ensure work meets company standards and safety requirements.
• Support capital projects and startups; document work in CMMS/EAM systems.
• Mentor apprentices and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
