Job summary

Johnson Electric in Ancaster, Ontario, is hiring a Manufacturing Systems Technician – Millwright to maintain, repair, refurbish, install, and start up production and test equipment in a high‑volume facility.

You will work across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and control systems, ensuring safety, quality, and environmental standards while reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Secondary school diploma or equivalent; Industrial Mechanic Millwright certificate preferred.
• 1–5 years industrial maintenance in manufacturing; experience with CNC/PLC/robotic equipment.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical skills; ability to read drawings, schematics, manuals.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, refurbish, and support production equipment in accordance with quality and safety standards.
• Repair, assemble, debug, install, and start new or modified CNC/PLC/robotic equipment from mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls perspectives.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Collaborate with Operations, Engineering and Quality to support projects and improvements.

Location: Ancaster, Ontario (onsite) Pay Rate: $42.21-$45.16 per hour Plus Continental Shift premiums: $1.00/hr (days) & $1.50/hr (nights) Vacancy Type: Full-time, Permanent Schedule: Continental shifts, bi-weekly rotating as necessary

As our next Manufacturing Systems Technician – Millwright, you will play a critical role in maintaining, troubleshooting, repair, refurbishment, installation, and start‑up of production and test equipment. This role supports high‑volume manufacturing operations by providing strong mechanical expertise across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and controls systems, while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. You will reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

What You'll Be Doing

• Maintain, repair, refurbish, and support production equipment and facilities in accordance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
• Repair, assemble, debug, install, and start‑up new or modified CNC, PLC, robotic, and automated assembly equipment from a mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls perspective.
• Perform hands‑on troubleshooting and diagnosis of mechanical systems, including machine tooling, automated equipment, and production systems in a high‑volume manufacturing environment.
• Work collaboratively with Operations, Engineering, and Quality teams to support new manufacturing projects, equipment upgrades, and production improvements.
• Support planned maintenance activities, emergency repairs, and breakdown response to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
• Interpret and work from mechanical drawings, schematics, operating manuals, and equipment documentation; assist in maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date technical documentation.
• Ensure machinery and equipment meet operational quality, safety, and efficiency requirements.
• Utilize proper rigging, lifting devices, tools, and techniques to safely position, install, and repair equipment.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability, safety, and overall maintenance effectiveness.
• Maintain an organized, well‑equipped maintenance area with strong housekeeping and project organization practices.
• Work with other maintenance team members to ensure effective communication, shift hand‑off, and coordination of work.
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company Safety, Quality, Environmental, and Production Systems.
• Perform other related duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

QUALIFICATION Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent. Valid Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) (Red Seal or provincial equivalent) in good standing preferred Completion of a recognized Millwright Apprenticeship preferred In lieu of a Millwright Certificate or ticket, candidates with five (5) or more years of relevant hands‑on industrial maintenance experience will be considered.

EXPERIENCE 1 to 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience supporting CNC, PLC, robotic, or automated assembly equipment in a high‑volume production setting.

TECHNICAL & SKILL REQUIREMENTS Strong hands‑on mechanical skills related to equipment assembly, machine repair, and preventative maintenance. Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and basic electrical systems. Exposure to PLC‑and CNC‑based equipment; Fanuc robot experience is considered an asset. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical manuals. Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment. Effective communication skills with the ability to interact at all organizational levels. High level of integrity, dependability, and sense of urgency in a production environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT (INCLUDING PHYSICAL DEMANDS) Industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, temperature variations, confined spaces, and production materials. Required to stand, walk, crouch, climb ladders and stairs, push, pull, lift, and carry tools, components, and materials throughout the facility. Operation of material‑handling and lifting equipment as required. Willingness to work rotating or continental shifts, overtime, and emergency call‑ins as required to support operations.
