Job summary

Johnson Electric in Mississauga, ON is hiring a Millwright-Machine Builder for onsite work. The role involves reading engineering drawings, assembling complex sub-assemblies for custom automation equipment, and integrating hydraulic and pneumatic systems to meet specifications.

You will also fabricate components, support debugging and commissioning, and train customers and operators on safe operation and maintenance. A diploma or technical training plus 5+ years of related experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct testing and adjustments to ensure equipment meets specifications.
• Support machine debugging, integration, and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate with electricians and PLC programmers during builds.
• Train customers, maintenance, and operators on equipment and safety procedures.
• Verify part conformance using precision measuring instruments.
• Participate in design reviews and suggest improvements for manufacturability.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain organized work areas.

What We’re Looking For:

• Diploma or equivalent technical training or relevant experience
• 5+ years of experience in automation, machine building, or millwright work
• Strong knowledge of mechanical assembly and blueprint reading
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Ability to use precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills

Bonus Points If You Have:

• Machining experience
• Experience with rigging and lifting techniques
• Exposure to full machine build and commissioning environments
• Familiarity with MS Office tools
