FED ManuTech in Montreal is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer / Industrial Draftsperson. You will produce production-ready drawings in a small team, turning client requirements into precise shop drawings.

The role requires autonomy, attention to detail, and deep knowledge of sheet metal and fabrication processes. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in metal fabrication, expertise in SolidWorks Sheet Metal, AutoCAD for DXF/DWG, and hands-on experience with aluminum, stainless steel and steel

Qualifications

• Diploma in industrial drafting or mechanical design.
• 5+ years in metal fabrication role.
• Expert in SolidWorks, especially Sheet Metal module.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD for DXF/DWG generation.
• Hands-on experience with aluminum, stainless steel and steel fabrication.
• Strong understanding of laser cutting, bending, welding, finishing and assembly processes.
• Knowledge of CSA / AWS welding symbols and how to apply them on drawings.
• Strong production mindset and excellent autonomy.

Hello, I’m Simon Mathé, Recruitment Consultant at FED ManuTech, specializing in engineering, manufacturing and industrial technical roles. I’m currently supporting a growing Quebec-based custom metal fabrication company specializing in aluminum, stainless steel and structural steel projects, in their search for a Senior Mechanical Designer / Industrial Draftsperson. This is a key position within a small, hands‑on team where every hire has a major impact. We’re looking for someone highly autonomous, detail‑oriented and production‑focused—someone who can turn client requirements into accurate shop‑ready drawings.

Mission

We are looking for a strong technical profile capable of delivering reliable, production‑ready drawings with minimal supervision. You bring:

• A diploma in industrial drafting, mechanical design or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in a similar role within metal fabrication
• Strong expertise in SolidWorks, especially the Sheet Metal module
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD for DXF/DWG generation
• Hands‑on experience with aluminum, stainless steel and steel fabrication
• Strong understanding of laser cutting, bending, welding, finishing and assembly processes
• Knowledge of CSA / AWS welding symbols and how to apply them correctly on drawings
• A strong production mindset and excellent autonomy

Working Conditions
