Job summary

The Mosaic Company in Colonsay, Saskatchewan is seeking a Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic to service plant and underground mining equipment. You will work safely on surface, in the shop, or underground, on a 5/5/4 shift cycle, reporting to the maintenance supervisor.

The role requires Red Seal certification, proficiency with power and hand tools, cutting and welding, and laser alignment, with a focus on preventive maintenance and rapid diagnosis to keep equipment running.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic with Red Seal certification.
• Full knowledge of power and hand tools safety and use.
• Proficient in laser alignment.
• Experience with cutting and welding practices.
• Authorized to work in Canada and able to pass pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Report to maintenance supervisor and service plant and mining equipment.
• Work safely in an industrial environment and follow procedures.
• Inspect, diagnose, repair, fabricate, modify, and install equipment.
• Plan and layout work using trade skills for assigned tasks.
• Work on surface, in shop, or underground as needed.
• Be proficient in laser alignment and report deficiencies.
• Be willing to learn and support safety of self and others.
• Possibly work a shift rotation including weekends.

As a Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic at our Colonsay, SK location. The successful candidate will safely and efficiently perform the duties of a Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic in an assigned area on an assigned shift.

What you’ll do?

• Reporting to the maintenance supervisor you will work as part of a team and be responsible for servicing the plant equipment and underground mining equipment.
• Work safely in an industrial environment and able to follow the procedures and policies that are in place.
• Inspect, diagnose, adjust, repair, fabricate, modify, and install plant equipment and or mining related equipment.
• Plan, layout and use trade skills for assigned work.
• Be able to work in the field, shop or underground.
• Proficient in laser alignment.
• Basic computer skills and ability to communicate and report any deficiencies or corrections noticed during routine maintenance or inspections either verbally or in writing.
• Willingness to learn and gain adequate knowledge and experience through training.
• Play a critical role not only ensuring your own safety, but also the safety of others.
• The position will require working on surface or underground as assigned.
• You may also be required to work a shift rotation requiring weekend work.

What You’ll Need

• A recognized, valid, Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic's Red Seal Certificate.
• Full knowledge of the safe utilization and care of power and hand tools.
• Full knowledge of cutting and welding practices.
• The ability to discern the state of mechanical condition of machines and equipment and take appropriate action.
• Employment is subject to successfully completing Mosaic's pre-employment checks including criminal, drug and alcohol testing.
• Must be authorized to work in Canada.
