Job summary

The Salvation Army Canada and Bermuda Territory is seeking a dedicated kitchen worker to prepare and serve nutritious meals for guests, following the Dietician-approved menu and Canada Food Guide. You will ensure Food Safe practices, supervise volunteers, and help with inventory and daily operations in a busy kitchen.

This full-time role requires a year of post-secondary study, Red Seal Certification or equivalent, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a formal post-secondary/college program of one academic year.
  • Red Seal Certification Required (food services certification & food handling certification).
  • Food Safe Level 1 is required; Level 2 will be considered as an asset.
  • One year of experience cooking in an industrial kitchen is preferred.
  • OH&S regulations compliance and safety training are necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals per Canada Food Guide and menu.
  • Follow Food Safe practices in all food preparation and service.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, dining and storage areas.
  • Record temperatures of foods and monitor time in the danger zone.
  • Assist with inventory, substitutions, and basic statistics as needed.
  • Provide supervision and training to volunteers and staff as required.
