Job summary

Coeur Mining is seeking an Industrial Hygiene Technician to support the industrial hygiene program across all departments. The role is based near Kamloops, BC, with a 5x2 schedule (Mon-Fri) and opportunities to work afternoon or split shifts, including some weekend coverage.

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in science/engineering or a two-year OHS-related diploma with air sampling experience, plus strong communication skills and a team-oriented, safety-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in science or engineering or a two-year diploma in occupational health and safety with air sampling experience
• Knowledge of occupational health and hygiene
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• Ability to adapt and manage a busy workload
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• A commitment to technical excellence
• Completion of, or enrollment in a post graduate occupational health and safety program is considered desirable

Responsibilities

• Preparing and calibrating sampling equipment for field use
• Industrial hygiene sample collection for industrial dusts and vapours
• Conducting noise assessments
• Cataloguing hazardous materials on site
• Data interpretation in relation to legislative requirements
• Performing respirator fit testing
• Data entry and records administration
• Develop and implement IH/OH programs and initiatives to identify, assess, and control workplace health hazards
• Ensure IH/OH efforts reduce risk to people, the environment, and the organization in alignment with global Occupational Health & Safety strategies
• Assisting and providing coverage for the Industrial Hygienist, when needed
• The successful candidate will be expected to work afternoon shifts, split shifts, and weekends on some occasions

Education

Undergraduate degree in science or engineering or a two-year diploma in occupational health and safety with air sampling experience

Air sampling experience

Position Overview

The industrial hygiene technician will play a key role in the industrial hygiene program across all departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing and calibrating sampling equipment for field use;
• Industrial hygiene sample collection for industrial dusts and vapours;

• Mining Experience
• 2-3 years experience in a safety oriented role

Other Requirements

• Completion of pre-placement functional screen
• Provide proof of a validdriver's license
• Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
• Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements

Compensation

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $68,000 to $80,000. A comprehensive benefits program and performance bonus plan will also be provided. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
