KPIC Maintenance Services Inc. (a member of the FWS Group of Companies) is recruiting an Industrial Electrician for the Portage La Prairie, MB area.

The role focuses on preventative and reactive maintenance, with small project retrofits in grain handling, feed mill and food processing facilities. The successful candidate will be a Journeyperson or Level 4 Apprentice, collaborating with Millwrights & Welders to ensure safe, high-quality electrical work and timely maintenance.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Apprenticeship program; Journeyman status is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Uses safe work practices and promotes safety policies; keeps area clean and safe.
• Proficient in electrical standards, codes, best practices, and safe work policies.
• Handles equipment safely (forklift, skidsteer, scissor lifts) and hoisting/rigging as required.

• Reads drawings and O+M manuals; performs layout to drawings and specs.
• Uses electrical test equipment effectively; maintains tool trailer and documents work.
• Supervises laborers and mentors junior workers.

INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICIAN

To support our continued growth, we are recruiting for an Journeyperson or Level 4 Apprentice Industrial Electrician to join our collaborative and team-focused organization, for around the Portage La Prairie, MB area.

As our Industrial Electrician, you will ensure all assigned electrical related tasks are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner with a high level of quality, using safe work practices acceptable to the customers’ satisfaction.

Position Overview

• Utilizes safe work practices and promote safety policies to others. Must maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Proficient in electrical standards, codes, best practices, safe work policies and practices.
• Responsible for safe and conscientious use of equipment including forklift, skidsteer loader, scissor lifts, power tools along with proficiency in safe methods of hoisting and rigging at all times.
• Position flexibility, work along side and support Millwrights & Welders. Assist with mechanical equipment inspections, troubleshooting, repairing and preventative maintenance along with installations, dismantling, assembling as per manufacturer specifications and recommended standards. Perform electrical duties as required.
• Proficient in material take offs, interpreting construction drawings, including providing accurate layout of the work and building to drawings and specifications. In addition, O+M Manuals to ensure correct maintenance and service has been provided.
• Accurately and effectively uses various types of electrical test equipment.
• Supervises laborer’s and resources as required for a specific task.
• Mentors and trains junior workers to develop trade related skills.
• Ability to complete required daily paperwork with legible penmanship and to KPIC standard.
• Responsible for all company tools ensuring they are accounted for at the end of each day. Maintaining a clean tool trailer each and every day.

Qualifications Needed

• Enrolled in Apprenticeship program. Journeyman status is an asset, interested in becoming dual ticketed in Millwrighting is an asset.
• Demonstrates honesty and integrity in all business interactions and strives to meet customer needs in a creative and safe manner.
• Highly motivated, positive attitude, pleasant demeanor with an ability to handle multiple time-sensitive tasks while working within a team environment and cross-functional departments as well as independently.
• Demonstrated electrical aptitude, understands principles, including Trouble-shooting/repairs/installations of processing equipment with a working knowledge of electrical to allow efficient repair/replacement results.
• Mechanical experience is an asset.
• Program and troubleshoot variable frequency drive (VFDs)
• Read and understand electrical power and control system wiring and schematics
• Must be able to read logic and flow diagrams
• PLC and automation knowledge considered an asset
• Repair/maintain/trouble shoot motor controls, hazard monitoring systems
• Must have experience working with voltage ranging from 24V to 575V, 3 phase
• Mechanical ability, knowledge, and experience such as troubleshooting skills, ability to assemble and commission mechanical systems in addition to understanding of multi hp industrial drives, shafts, bearings, and lubrication considered an asset.
• Ability to install, examine, diagnose, and adjust various types of industrial and electrical equipment is an asset.
• Appropriate level of experience in industrial maintenance/service environment. Agricultural Industry experience considered an asset.
• Ability to work in cold & hot weather/environments and green/brown fields sites subject to grain dust.
• Required Safety tickets/training, minimally including a current First Aid Certificate, fall arrest, confined space, WHIMIS, CSTS will be considered an asset and preference will be shown towards candidate holding valid & current training. Proof of training maybe requested.
• Holds no previous safety violation within the FWS Group of Companies.
