Job summary

Agropur Cooperative in Ontario is seeking a licensed Industrial Electrician to join our maintenance team. You will diagnose, repair and install electrical systems across production lines, PLCs, HMIs, and sensors, while following Canadian Electrical Code and WHMIS standards.

You bring 3 years' experience in manufacturing, a valid Ontario license, strong teamwork, problem-solving, and proficiency with ControlLogix PLCs.

Qualifications

• Valid Ontario Industrial Electrician license is required.
• Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial control systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical/machine malfunctions across production lines.
• Repair and replace electric/electronic components (motors, relays, sensors, PLCs).
• Install/repair wiring, switch boxes, conduits, lighting fixtures.
• Perform preventive maintenance and use CMMS as needed.
• Troubleshoot PLCs and VFDs on packaging/processing equipment.
• Document changes and verify repairs.
• Work safely complying with health, safety, and environmental rules.

Your role in achieving results:

• Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, VFDs, electrical instrumentation and sensors, lighting fixtures and replace damaged or broken wires and cables;
• Repairs and replaces electric and electronic components such as motors, contactors, relays, switches or sensors, PLC’s, light curtains, motor controls, VFDs, etc;
• Installs, examines, replace or repair electric wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components;
• Performs preventive and predictive maintenance on production and production supporting equipment as outlined in the individual work instructions;
• Troubleshoot programmable logic controllers and VFD’s on packaging and processing machinery;
• Test for malfunctions, verify repairs and document of all programming changes;
• Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations including the use of personal protective equipment;
• Be willing to upgrade skills to deal with new technology, including the use of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS);
• Work with operators and other trades as required to achieve satisfactory results;
• Support the development of autonomous, preventive, and predictive maintenance programs.

What we are looking for to deliver these results:

• A current Province of Ontario Industrial Electrician License;
• 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food, beverage, dairy, or pharmaceutical industry (asset);
• Experience in troubleshooting with Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLC and FactoryTalk View HMI and SCADA system;
• Must have a thorough knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code;
• Experience with industrial electrical power systems, industrial control systems, PLC’s, motors, VFD’s, and industrial communication systems;
• Able to create simple drawings, ladder diagrams and single circuit diagrams;
• Proficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel, MP2 database system) (asset);
• Work independently or in team with little to no supervision;
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English;
• Must also be familiar with WHMIS, GMP’s and good health and safety work practices.
