Job description

This Indigenous Student Employment Program is open to students who self‑declare as Indigenous Peoples (First Nations, Inuit, Métis). It provides practical, career‑related experience in research, development, engineering, technology, administration, library science, computer science, trades, business, finance, human resources, and other professions.

City: Multiple NRC Offices across Canada

Classification: Student

Duration: Approximately 16 weeks (four months). Full‑time during a non‑academic semester and part‑time during an academic semester.

Work Arrangements: Positions may be eligible for a hybrid arrangement (on‑site and telework) depending on the nature of the work. Teleworkers must travel to the designated site at least three times per week (minimum 60% of the work schedule). Exceptions may be granted to accommodate Indigenous candidates’ community connections.

• You have a high school diploma (or grade 12 equivalent).
• You are studying at a recognised educational institution and will return to full‑time studies next semester.

Definitions:

• First Nations: Indigenous grouping composed of many different nations with their own history and culture.
• Metis: Indigenous People of mixed First Nations and European ancestry, united by a common history and culture.
• Inuit (Inuk): Indigenous People inhabiting or traditionally inhabiting the northern regions and Arctic coasts of Canada (Inuit Nunangat).
• Persons with disabilities: Considered to have full‑time status by their academic institution or participating in adult secondary‑level education/retraining under authorised institutions.
