Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists for a highly motivated, personable, and very organized Team Lead (TL) for our Indigenous Services (IS) team within our Environmental Services Business Centre. You will report directly to the Business Center Operations Leader and will work closely with other leadership and team leads. As a TL, you will form a key part of the BC’s leadership team and will help grow our business through ongoing recruitment, retention and development of staff.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations of up to 15 IS professionals
  • Communicate operational expectations and execute the team’s strategic vision
  • Resource planning and management by monitoring staff utilization and availability
  • Align team members’ professional challenges with their career plans and business goals
  • Coach and mentor team members for performance and career development
  • Conduct goal setting and performance reviews, and collaborate with BC leadership on training and performance targets
  • Maintain team morale and recognition initiatives
  • Provide ongoing performance evaluations and constructive feedback
  • Collaborate with safety personnel to support training requirements
  • Lead or chair IS team meetings
  • Participate in TL meetings with leadership and HR
  • Contribute to compensation, leadership, and job category discussions
  • Lead or participate in recruitment and onboarding of new staff
  • Drive new technical initiatives or service lines
  • Promote a positive safety culture and act as an agent of change
  • Participate in technical project work aiming for 65% utilization
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Experience in team leadership and project management
  • Experience engaging with Indigenous communities and presenting to diverse audiences
  • Experience in environmental impact assessments
  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultural, historical, and political contexts in Canada
  • Strong listening and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects
  • Attention to detail and excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to travel regionally for short-term assignments
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Indigenous studies, anthropology, sociology, geography, archaeology, or environmental sciences
  • Relevant consulting experience, especially in community-based research or environmental planning, is an asset
  • Safety and cultural safety training certificates are assets
  • Experience in environmental, socioeconomics, or public health assessments is an asset
